I admit I'm not a sociable person, having said that, Defiance in my opinion has more people that recognize the signs of certain aspects of the game compared to Battlefield. During a monolith fight I saw a person get clobbered by a mortar shot crawl outside of the circle of flames to make it so I won't kill myself reviving him.

I don't think I've had too many people recognize signs on battlefield. I recall one instance where I dropped a teammate a medkit, then he runs off, only to be killed almost immediately. It baffles me how Defiance is a free to play game, yet has way more cooperative players than battlefield.

And, it's showing. So many ppl here complaining about not finding a single Solstice Arkfall and I average 4-6 a night in 2-3 hour sessions. My clan comes through!

Reb, I'll be the first to admit that having your clan on does multiply the possibility of getting these events. When I was soloing there were definitely some lengthy dry spells.

I guess if nothing else, this is a great reason to find a clan.

I always see people talking, especially on /zone and /clan. I personally don't use a microphone and have other microphones turned off as I much prefer to just type to speak.
I have never thought of this game as a 'social failure', I think it has much improved since the beginning when text faded away almost instantly with no options for change. If you feel lonely in the game, you just need to find a good clan. Clan chat is almost always active for me.

I think it goes to say that most people get into clans, they only focus on clan channel. Like most others I tend to half ignore the area or zone channel, and speak on clan 98% of the time. Most people feel more comfortable speaking on that then say Zone channel.

I paly on Eu server and I can't access zone chat . it's On in settings.

Have you ever tried to set anything up social-wise in Firefall? Now THAT'S a nightmare!

Defiance may not have the most sophisticated chat system on the planet, but it's busy and the people using it are, on the whole, friendly and helpful.

I can't think of any other online game with a crowd of friends I'd rather hang out with...

I am always checking the "nearby" tab to see who is around me in-game. There are countless people that I never see speak a word in zone. I am inclined to say that less than 50% speak in zone. Or even area chat for that matter. Its not trion fault people don't want or can't communicate. I wish they would. But people are lazy or are put-off by what's already being posted in zone and they have just closed the chat window permanently.

Had one player get on zone one night and ask how to block it.
