question on event item, piper

i just recieved the piper ar and it does only 90 dmg for a 1250 lvl gun.... any idea on why this is? i have a lvl 500 gun that does more damage than the piper. any info on why this is, will be much appreciated. thanks

It's a blast rifle and you multiply the damage by 3. The true damage would read 90x3. It actually shoots 3 bullets for every 1 bullet if that makes sense.

IE: 3 shot burst = 9 bullets.

Basically it shoots a 3 piece version of an archaic shrapnel shell, compressed into a bullet. Basically upon leaving the barrel your 1 bullet splits into 3 pieces of shrapnel flying at your target. So it costs 1 bullet but if all 3 pieces hit, then it does the damage of 3.

Ya they will drop a lot of things with a short burst at close range. I like to use em on really big things, and unload a clip into their rear compartment. Lol.

Agreed, as does the dev responsible for weapons, and he is looking into updating blast rifles in general.

Blast rifle is an odd case since part of the problem is perception due to the stat display not showing the x3 shot damage. My plan is to fix that first since even if I were to bump the damage by something huge, like 50%, lots of people would still think they suck due to the raw display value being lower than single shot guns. Once that's fixed (or if it turns out that it can't be fixed relatively quickly), I'll take a look at retuning the stats.

yeah, blast rifles are quite underpowered, compared with other ARs or SMGs. That's why no one uses them.

I am more inclined to say, "Happily my Perforator does more damage".
