There is Ego, Weapon Level and Weapon type level. 3 types.
So the innovation and "nuance" of this game is to remove progression?
And yes, I enjoy getting something from my time. Repeating the same **** over and over is not fun (which is why the quests in this game are total crap - if you try and deny that then every argument you make from now on is void).
I also spent $60 on this game and followed the development process - but I'm afraid there is nothing here that I would term fun. No reward for time expendature, no economy, crap instances, no interesting loot. I don't see a point in continuing to play.
/thread I've made up my mind.
I hope you're right. In testing, when the weapon maxed... you had to get a new weapon. They were going to add a way to reset the weapon's xp (so you could keep earning skill and so you could try for a different random bonus when you maxed it again), but it doesn't look like they got that system in.
So maybe they fixed it so that you can get skill xp with a maxed weapon instead.
The thing is that in a shooter, what you get out of your time for the most part is an increase to your own personal skill level. Now, there are some things in the game, like mods, that increase your weapon's power. I've managed to find quite a few blues lately that have been thrown on my AR, and I can promise you the difference is astounding. It's not a raw stat increase as much as it is how long I can lay on the trigger before the cone of fire extends past what I'm shooting at, and things of that nature.
Oh and, the crit multipliers? Those multiply the multiplier. So it's a hell of a gain.
Sherlock, welcome to a wold where Defiance, which was never claimed to be an RPG, is not an RPG. If you expected RPG style vertical gear progression I wonder how you can claim youve "followed development". Its been known for quite some time that progression is mostly flat, with minor increases to stats from perks and mods. This is how shooters usually work.
RPG = character progression / skill focus (stats, gear, etc all constantly getting better)
Shooter = player progression / skill focus (you, the player, matter more than your characters stats. game relies on your own speed, aim, reflexes, etc to be capable of anything)
