I think since the internet has been around a long time, most names in their purest form are mostly taken, sure you can make weird names and names that make no sense or hard to pronounce and get them, and there's always exceptions.

Being able to reserve a name is something that should be standard these days for pre-orders, it's all just opinion though, but I completely understand where you're coming from. A name that you choose should have enough creativity in it (your own creativity) that it is not commonplace so you never have a problem reserving or need to reserve... Or am I completely off the mark?
Is it because you make a lot of males jaws drop and to remember you by? LOL jk

Note: Not to be mistaken by another meaning after I reread this I was like shi* :/ lmao

I was thinking about the same thing yesterday, I really wish there was a way to reserve in-game names. I hate when someone has the name I want, and I have to come up with some weird variant of the name. To the point where I don't even want the name anymore, lol. It just doesn't feel the same.

When you get that happy, and you can see everything that you worked for come to fruition.. you might cry too. See, it's moments like those, that make everything you worked for, worth it.

I also agree, i would love to see this happen. A lot of games actually have something like this in place for launch and i am hoping defiance does it as well. I guess i have a common place name these day's but when i first started gaming i never had a problem getting my nickname as a character name.

you wouldn't have that problem if people would actually come out with original name and not all fight for "john" ... me i never have that issue -_-

I personally don't care whether or not they reserve names or not. It's not really going to mess around with my gameplay, and who I am. If a username depicts who you are, well, I have nothing nice to say about that, so I'll keep it to myself.

You should be wary though, because even with name reservations, your name is still not guaranteed, and can still be taken by anyone out there, especially to those who now have seen your username, and think to themselves "Oh hey cool, once the name reservations are allowed, I'm going to snag that name!".

In no which manner nor meaning do name reservations actually keep your name safe, as if they were to have name reservations, they would probably do one which suits the majority of the playerbases "Time peroid". Really, this is what they would do for release as well, make it convenient with everyone else's time period as well. Thus, if you're not around for the name reservation, your chances of getting your username are just about as likely as they would have been with the game just launching.

A username shouldn't be "who" you are, nor "what" you are. It should simply be a username allowing you to log into the game, and enjoy it.

Of course, this is just my own personal opinion. As I stated earlier, care less whether or not there's a name reservation, nor do I care if my username is gone. It certainly does not depict who I am.

I Personally wouldn't worry too much about the username anyways. You should let your forum be buried, as it's quite a ways until April 2nd, and your name will long be forgotten. The more you bring up the subject, the more likely you are to lose your name.
