    A False Sense Of Entitlement

    Hello there,
I'm just going to say how disappointing it is to see so many people complaining about various aspects of Defiance. Be it server upsets, patching troubles or, god forbid, having to wait until the game is released officially to be be able to play it. The amount of people that seem to have no idea how the game works is staggering. It annoys me to see all the hard work and effort trion put into making such a great game, and such a great idea, just to see it get bashed by people with this weird mentality that Trion owe them the world on a silver platter because the game doesnt run perfectly on day one. The guys are clearly working very hard to please everyone, and i think some people are treating them very unfairly. I enjoy being part of this community, i really do, but its disheartening to see so many posts about headstarts, and compensation, and free **** to make up for stuff that was inevitable anyway. Stop bashing, start appreciating what they tried to do.
If i've come across as a self righteous *******, i'm sorry, but i just think that people need to grow up a little bit, and most of all learn to have some god damn patience.
Also, I'm up and running on xbox (UK) if anyone would like to join me.

No need to be sorry, I totally agree! EVERY MMORPG out there has bumps when it first starts. There will be glitches and bugs. I'm guessing that many of these "whiners" haven't played many MMO's. I hope they quit playing, they obviously don't like the game they should just move on. Another option is that they are "Trolls" in that they like to get people all riled up so they can get attention. Seems to be "Griefing" is a whole other game that TOO many people enjoy playing, makes me really worried for this world. Entitlement and selfishness...

Firstly, do you ever apply this feeling of disdain for false entitlement, in any other aspects of life, particularly real life?
I often find people quick to voice what they think is their needed opinion on the internet, yet rarely use this same enthusiasm for sharing wisdom, in the real world on more pressing matters.

Next, what's dissapointing is a game that launched as a Beta - which people paid for, and is the main reason/root of all their issues.

Unfortunately most developers will only listen when the money slows and the shouts get more frequent. If that's what it takes, that's what people will do.

Your mistake is assuming that all persons who raise complaints are doing it out of some 'false sense of entitlement' or this belief that the MUST be heard. You'd be wrong and you would also be a hypocrit because it's exactly what you're here doing - sharing your opinion which you think we must have or else...

you're topic doesn't make sense, what you describe isn't called a sense of entitlement. Feeling entitled to something implies you purchase something and get what you paid for, then you want more.

Buying a buggy, glitch, unstable game isn't what was advertised.

"I'm just going to say how disappointing it is to see so many people complaining about various aspects of Defiance."

It's called being a consumer, when you buy something, you expect it to work as advertised. When it doesn't work you have every right to complain.

"Be it server upsets, patching troubles or, god forbid, having to wait until the game is released officially to be be able to play it."

When you buy an online only game, you kind of expect servers to work, not to have troubles patching the game, and when paying full price for the game you expect it to work. What do you mean released officially. The game is available for purchase both in retail stores and online. That means it was officially released.

"The amount of people that seem to have no idea how the game works is staggering."

Most people don't know how the game works because it's a glitch, laggy, buggy unstable mess.

"It annoys me to see all the hard work and effort trion put into making such a great game, and such a great idea, just to see it get bashed by people with this weird mentality that Trion owe them the world on a silver platter because the game doesnt run perfectly on day one."

Hey Slap happy, this isn't the first day, isn't today the 2nd day? Also nobody says Trion owes them anything, other than a non buggy, glitch, unstable game.

"The guys are clearly working very hard to please everyone, and i think some people are treating them very unfairly."

Make and release a game that isn't unstable, buggy and glitchy and people will be happy. You release a shoddy, unstable game you deserve to be criticized until those issues are resolved.

"I enjoy being part of this community, i really do, but its disheartening to see so many posts about headstarts, and compensation, and free **** to make up for stuff that was inevitable anyway."

I'll say and do what I want, until they get the game stable, working as intended, not glitchy, not buggy, and generally working as intended. As for free stuff, I haven't seen anyone suggest that, I've only seen people angry about the game not working as intended.

HAHAHA This here is a Troll... That condescending "tone" which is intended to be passive aggressive. ALL MMORPGS could be considered BETA's at launch. LOL! There is NO WAY of knowing how it will go before it actually happens. I am VERY thankful "LifeOnFire" started this thread, I'm POSITIVE they are not the only one that has been thinking this. hehe

I'm going off of my own experience, which has been hitch free so far. No bugs, no glitches, occasional lag during arkfalls but again i expected that.

need to learn what entitlement really means before you can actually call people out for being that way. NEWSFLASH, what people have been saying isn't entitlement, it's called being a consumer, if you are unhappy with a product you purchase you are allowed to voice your disdain about said product.

Asking for a game you purchased to not be buggy, glitchy (stop taking the Y off glitchy) and or otherwise nearly unplayable, they have every right to complain, bash, trash and do anything else they feel is justified until said problems are fixed. If you or the developers, or publishers or anyone else dislikes it, then fix the issues people have with the game.

I'm not here to cause friction, thats the last thing i want to do. I'm just glad that someone agrees with me. and in the least condescending tone i can possibly convey through a keyboard, i think these folks are perhaps some of the people that were incessantly complaining in the first place.

Thats a risk you take when you, the consumer, purchase the game. I paid my money, and it was worth every penny.
