Buying a buggy, glitch, unstable game ...
Give it a few days and it will be fine! OMGOSH.... Haven't you ever played an MMORPG before? It's been 48hrs and it has been running great for me on PC. First several hours were crazy, and when the "Que" would come up saying "HOURS" I was shocked, but within a minute I was in the game. Anyway, I hope the game is running more stable for you by this weekend at the latest. I have actually played games with WORSE launches.... Anarchy Online back in like 2003 was the worst of it's time, then Vanguard was TERRIBLE and even a YEAR later was terrible! World of Warcraft is glitchy and buggy for a week or two when it comes out with an expansion. This last one was the worst I'd experienced. Best is to just wait 48hrs then start playing. BUT, I risked it because I wanted to use the bonus'.

Aww isn't that sweet, let me retort. Thus far I've encountered no less than 5 issues in the tutorial. Items not spawning, enemies not spawning. Those are connection issues, but still shouldn't be present. Never encountered them in other MMO's.. Heck even Free to play MMO's don't have these issues.

During the main game, I was first stuck by items that didn't spawn on the first quest.... Finally the item spawned after about 4 hours of me doing everything else I could do.

Then on a mission I died due to an invisible enemy.... Awesome,,,, wait I spawned but I'm being killed again, and again, and again, about 5 times I died right after spawning. Eventually I managed to fight through the damage to finish the quest and stop the death loop.

Oh yeah, the next quest, yet again failed to spawn the item into the game.

ive never really played an MMO being an xbox chap, but even i knew this wouldnt be perfectly smooth. Online only games never ever are, theres too much to factor in.

Dont get me wrong, im not blaming you personally, but did you ever take into account your location, as well as the quality of your connection?

Wanting a game that's not buggy at retail - which this game was perfectly capable of being, and isn't, since it's not really a true MMO - isn't a lot to ask for. Actually, as customers, we have a right to a game that should be relatively smooth and bug free, but instead, we have a half-baked game that most people can hardly play online thanks to ALL MANNER of problems, whether it be disconnects/critical errors, patching problems, or just horrendous lag and ghost mobs. Customers pay for a product that -should- be in good shape. Defiance isn't.

What you're calling entitlement, is actually an incorrect use of the world. Entitlement implies that customers or buyers are clamoring for something they think they deserve just because of reason x, and in this case it would be 'bought the game.' But it's not entitlement; it's a right to a neat, well-developed product that actually works, and is playable. I've had Defiance since the morning of the 2nd, and I've barely played it because my game disconnects me frequently, and after it does, I have the well-known 'critical' error, which doesn't allow me to log back in, even if I restart my xbox or sign in and out of my gamertag.

I paid good money for a product that went THROUGH an alpha, beta, and plenty of bug-testing, and this retail launch of Defiance is the result? It's pretty pathetic that most of these issues haven't been solved or looked into yet, and Trion is really slow on the uptake. I'm not saying that Defiance is a bad game at all, and in fact I rather enjoy it; but the current state of their MMOFPS gem is pretty piss-poor and they need to do something about it before they start losing customers.

Complaining about this product, which is pretty lack-luster in terms of it's current state, and what it SHOULD be like - especially thanks to how they advertised with many emails saying 'hey, thanks for the bug-testing. with your help, this game is going to be immaculate at launch' - is pretty terrible, and not entitlement at all.

The game needs some serious TLC to get to where it needs to be. If it doesn't, then it's going to lose plenty of customers on different platforms.

I love that statement you just made..... Yes I have played other games at launch EQ 2 comes to mind, amazing game, zero issues like any of the stuff I'm seeing here... FF11, Rift, LOTRO, WOW....... none of those games had issues I'm seeing with this game. I didn't even start to talk about the issues with not even getting disconnected 10 - 20 times before I even got to make my first character.

It's ok to say the game was rushed to meet a deadline for the television show. Slap a bata tag on the game and be done with it. Don't put it out as a finished product and wondering why people are angry about the game not working as intended.... Heck I'm pretty sure The War Z had a better launch than this.

The amount of people that seem to have no idea how the game works is staggering. It annoys me to see all the hard work and effort trion put into making such a great game, and such a great idea, just to see it get bashed by people with this weird mentality that Trion owe them the world on a silver platter because the game doesnt run perfectly on day one. The guys are clearly working very hard to please everyone, and i think some people are treating them very unfairly. I enjoy being part of this community, i really do, but its disheartening to see so many posts about headstarts, and compensation, and free **** to make up for stuff that was inevitable anyway. Stop bashing, start appreciating what they tried to do.
If i've come across as a self righteous *******, i'm sorry, but i just think that people need to grow up a little bit, and most of all learn to have some god damn patience.
Also, I'm up and running on xbox (UK) if anyone would like to join me.
Well put, agree 100%. I've been embarrassed by some of what I've read in the past couple of days. It's the 4th and it's only been out since the 2nd. This is going to be an amazing game.

That's happened to me, too, in plenty of other quests, in addition to disconnecting randomly, logging back in, and losing all of that quest progress, as well as the quest not restarting properly when I visit it.

I've played a hundred other MMOs, including FFXI and stuff on my 360, and I've never had to deal with such shoddy server connections in my entire life.

Asking for a game you purchased to not be buggy, glitchy (stop taking the Y off glitchy) and or otherwise nearly unplayable, they have every right to complain, bash, trash and do anything else they feel is justified until said problems are fixed. If you or the developers, or publishers or anyone else dislikes it, then fix the issues people have with the game.
The funny thing is don't you think Trion is going to be trying to fix the issues if someone says. "Hey! I can't get in the game", or "This...... Happened and it bugged out!" ... Trion wants the game to SUCCEED DUH!!! People ripping into the game, on the first day, heck 48hrs just points out that these players haven't had much experience with playing MMORPGS, and I find this thread extremely entertaining with each new person that is attempting to "defend" the "WHINE FEST!" Reminds me little kids complaining. An ADULT will speak more constructively about getting something fixed, not DESTRUCTIVELY. Trion is doing an EXCELLENT job of listening and working things out! Give them some time. Sheez...
