When do we start getting faction reputation in game?

So I have nearly completed 3 of the 5 chapters of the main story line, gotten around 22% of the total trophies, and yet still havent gotten any "reputation" from the various factions yet. I have helped the Echelon soldiers, did missions, side missions to help out the factions, etc. And still nothing. Anyone have any idea how we earn it?

reputation comes in when you hit ego 250. as you go around madera and kill raiders youll notice things like "obtaijn raider gas masks x/100" that is a contract. complete it and you get rep. 2 kinds of contracts daily and weekly, weelky are like the /100 and daily are usually lower

They are essentially automatic. Go under the menu where you find pursuits and click over one screen to find contracts. They are listed by faction. You don't go to any particular location to start them or "turn them in." You just do them. Think of them like the kinds of achievements that have you kill X number of enemies with a given weapon and the like.

rep seems kind of useless to me, not worth the effort, it would take about 2 weeks worth of rep gathering to be able to afford to buy a purple weapon, then you have to start all over again because you actually spend the rep

you actually don't, the rep number in the store is the level you have to have to buy the weapon or piece of gear, the rep stays. hit 100 with echelon, you'll stay at 100 rep

Not trying to argue with you sir but are you sure? I only ask because I experienced the same thing fish did. When I was at the Tops (forgive me, rest of the name escapes me) merchant (at the top of the long winding ramp) I saw two numbers for what I wanted. The rep number (100) and the scrip needed to buy the weapon. I had 135 rep going in and after buying the SAW I wanted, it left me with 35 rep. Was kind of hoping it would work the way you described but it didn't for me.

Yup rep is a currency. when you spend it you loose it but accumulated rep towards the different likings like friendly and what not further up (cant remember what they are named) Will still count from max rep earned. so its not like u drop in relations with the faction for using your rep for buying stuff.

Also would like to mention the rep gaining is currently bugged. some of the daily rep contracts occassionally reset when you join a co-op or switch zone or get any form of loading screen. so right now i bet theres someone whos farmed a bucketload of rep already.

    Anyway happy farming!
