    Exp bar For individual weapons

Does anyone know what the point of this is? I have 3 different SMGs maxed out and nothing happens. I assumed before I maxed one out that it would level up or something but that is not the case.

The EXP bar on the weapons arent that imporant. This is how it goes, you get a blank exp bar weapon, as you use it in combat it will gain experince, this experiance fills up the bar, but it also fills up towards your weapon proficiency. Though once you max out the weapon exp bar, you cannot gain anymore exp on it, hence you cannot gain anymore weapon proficiency exp. You do not have to finish the weapon exp bar to gain weapon proficiency exp, so don't feel pressured to use just that gun because you happen to have half the exp bar filled. All you get for filling up the bar is an extra bonus for that weapon.

How do you know what the extra bonus is?

Ah ok, I didn't notice anything new pop up when I maxed them out. I'll have to go back and look.

Wait a second, are you saying that once you max out weapon exp you no longer gain proficiency for the weapon class??

Why even have this in the game if it does nothing?

Yup, once you max out that weapon and unlock it's bonus stat, your weapon skill stops gaining experience. It's a terrible system and they've been complaining since the alpha build.
If you happen to find a gun where you're still gaining skill experience even after you maxed out the weapon, that is a bug and you should hang onto that weapon if it's your favorite, the majority of them work as the game intended.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?
