Nice, Do you know if there are going to be any huge cities with hundreds of buildings/ruins?

Well the recent video shows a damaged highway and some rubble, what appeared to be a half collapsed building with and old street sign and rusted out car and an area I believe to be San Francisco with a collapsed building. Plus an image I posted before showed the Transamerica Pyramid building in SF still standing and looking ruined, so i guess there are some ruined areas to move around in.

The map does show are area up the top left corner with square streets and those only usually are built around buildings.

And there is still more room. The San Francisco Bay area is big, very big, holds 7 million people big. They could work their way and expand down the peninsula into Santa Clara County. There is San Jose and a dozen other cities there. Wind around an up the east bay and across from start through the north bay...it is big. And as I understand it, the above is just a portion of the map being used for testing...

I really hope in futre expansions we can travel to antartica. That would be awesome, considering its now a lush tropical island. =)

I used maps.google to roughly calculate the land area shown in that screenshot. It comes out to 158.0038 square miles. Land area is actually lower than that because I didn't want to calculate the area of 30 or 40 triangles. So I just used seven triangles, which included some water area. But, it gives a ballpark idea of how big the land area is.

See http://goo.gl/maps/9gHpT the map on google. I was going to post a screenshot, but it would have been kind of small, so I linked to the map.

But, I guess the size of the area is relative to how fast you can travel. So, the faster you can move the smaller the world seems. On the map the bright yellow line is 10.43 miles. In this video a player moves from the green marker at ~8:36 and arrives at blue marker 2 minutes later - despite running his quad into the water and getting lost. I had to guess at the start and end points because I had no geographical or map features I could match up.

Alot of people want fast travel. But I think that cheapens the feel of the experience. Maybe allow fast travel at a certain ego level but I think there should be some grinding time.

Hmm, well lets say I played beta 2 hour and I explored maybe 5% of the map. I'd say theres easily 30+ hour of content, just do the quests and explore the zones.

And not to mention TW is gonna be more content too. Why I believe we get alot more zones speficially, is that everyone liked alot of those when they added zones to Rift. Zones, more quests, monsters etc works for everyone.

Most likely the map is not to scale or else it would take a good long time to move about given the distances.
