So theres basically no reason to ever level or build your ego. Nice. This game gets more fail every day

    I really enjoy this game.

But there's no carrot for me.

Why would I play it in 3 months?

Yes the game is fun. But being as weak as you were as Ego 1 make's the whole leveling system and gear progression meaningless.

Why should I ever change my starting rifle? Why should I even grab loot? Its the same as the one I wear.

I am not talking gear progression like World of Warcraft where you have to play to get conquest point and grab gear that can easily kill a new high level.

But give a ego 5000 benefits vs a fresh ark hunter wouldn't hurt in PvP etc. Not saying one shot one kill with assault rifle.

But seriously if you feel as weak as a fresh ark hunter as 5000, doesn't it feel like it was worthless grabbing all the new gear, setting ego points etc?

you can be fully decked out in exotic quality gear in guild wars 2 about an hour after hitting 80... then its only cosmetic as skill variation is derp. as to defiance i have a few orange weapons with slightly better stats than my other similar types, otherwise its variation ive had shotguns that fire grenades and burst smgs etc not sure how many variations there are but you also have 4 mod slots but im not sure how much customization they actually offer

Having a vertical system increases people's desire to improve themselves. Whats the point if 5000 ego does the same damage as 100 ego? I will still finish the story but I was looking forward to getting geared.

They call it Gearing UP for a reason. Its not called gearing around, or gearing over. Even casual players who do not play 15 hours a day should get a sense of achievement for getting gear upgrades. The only endgame GW2 has now is pvp. Unfortunately that is all I see in this games future too unless they implement something.

The chance at new and more powerful gear is the reason games like WoW and Rift have a thriving online community. People have to put forth effort to get upgrades and progress their character. If you want to play a game where playing longer and harder does not get you anything except a different costume then that is your decision, but its obvious that most people were looking forward to pve content that was not horizontal.

This post had be hopeful, but it appears that sledge was being disingenuous, either he really didn't know any better or they were just trying to squelch any dissent.

I mean, someone makes a post asking for increased damage/stat potential on weapons (progression) and sledge comes and says the beta weapons and stats do not reflect the real values and we finally start playing the real game, we suddenly find that weapon stats across weapons are IDENTICAL. There's a huge disconnect between what they said and what we got. Had enough of this with Anet and their promises towards rangers. x.x

It doesn't even have to be drastic, but it should be noticeable.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

There is item progression, higher you go; the more synergies unlock. Synergies are their form of item progression. They come on weapons and also on mods. However actually being able to tell if you have a combo working or even seeing the mods on the weapons is currently mia. ie. I put brutal synergy mod on a weapon, base item mod shows and the synergy disappears. There is no stat screen to even track these bonuses nor even perk related ones.

Anyways, on topic; this is no BL2 or Diablo type game when it comes to deep item choices. Items you see under lvl 100 is same as you will see at lvl 5k excluding secondary stats and synergies. It's shallow and uninteresting over all. Heck, the weapon skins don't change either even legendaries look like the stock white model. lol! Jokes on us.

I'm pretty sure that despite buying it and being past the release date this is still beta.

Not that I'm not enjoying myself, I really like the game and don't regret buying it at all. But, still.

I dont regret buying it either, I have had a blast and still going. I just wish Trion would give us updates about what they are working on for the game and where they are taking it. I am afraid that when I finish all the quests that the pve will be done except for arcfalls and episode missions.

I really hope they add gear progression and also add some kind of end game. It does not have to tie in with the show for all I care. Just add something to keep us playing for more then 2 months. I am aware that I will be able to log in after each episode and do a few more quests but if that is all there will be then the future is bleak.

Yeah, I'm enjoying the hell out of this game but I hate it when I see things like this. Right out of the gate we're having deceptive responses and I don't want that to happen to this game.
