There's rumor going around that Xbox360 and PS3 is pulling the plug on servers for these consols and i'm wondering if it is true and if so is Trion going to upgrade the game to the next gen consoles?

Not true for as far as PSN is concerned.

They're still making games for the console and have said many times in recent past that they would still support the PS3 for quite some time.

Hell, they still support the PS2 console.

Well, they say that 74% of all statistics are made up.

But seriously, there was a post recently from a dev that said they have NOT heard anything about either Live or PSN going down and that the game will continue on.

If I can find the post, I'll link it but I'm getting ready to go to work so it might be awhile.

EDIT: Found the link I was looking for but it was about NOT shutting down Defiance's PS3 and 360 servers and not about PSN or Live going down. Sorry, I remembered incorrectly.

The xbox thing stems from the fact that, in 2016, microsoft is going to stop manufacturing new 360 consoles. This does not mean that they will shut down the 360 servers altogether. Microsoft likes making money, and if they 'pulld the plug' in 2016 right after manufacturing the last 360 console, they wouldn't be able to make any of that sweet delicious cash off whoever buys one in 2016.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, the original xbox had online capability for quite awhile after Microsoft stopped making them, and there wasn't nearly as much available for people to buy on that console as there is on the 360. I would venture to guess that as long as MS is making more money than it costs to keep the 360 online that it will stay online.

Edit: here's some numbers from wikipedia
August 2005: Nvidia stops producing the xbox gpu, thus ceasing manufacturing of new xbox consoles (I couldn't find a hard date for sales of the consoles ceasing, but it looks like somewhere in 2008)
November 2005: Xbox 360 hits the market
August 2008: Final game for the original xbox is released in North America (Madden 09)
April 2010:Xbox live support for the original Xbox ended

So if we went by this pattern, the 360 would stay online until 2021, but the console market is much different now than it was then, so it could be sooner or later

Honestly I'm more worried about the individual game companies ceasing support for their games than I am the 360 ceasing live support. However I'm sure as long as this game proves profitable, Trion will keep it running.
