i would like to see some dev responses and be like hay we understand we messed up we forgot to build a pc ui and chat system we made everything with the console in mind ... if ya all cant make a pc oriented ui and chat system then all your gonna be left with for this game is just console users cause we pc players are gonna move onto another game that has a community in it and a mmo feel to it ...
never tried a korean f2p game like rappelz, two moons or sword of the new world(granada espada)?
their chat system is just as limited mostly as a way to combat gold selling spam.
i will say that the game does not give you a chance to type crap out in a fight. it's all hectic as hell and requires you to constantly act. it's built for voice comms, and the voice comms needs refining
Ya but you can still chat in major city hubs etc to trade or make a party etc. But with this terrible UI / Chat people either don't even notice you said anything or don't care to even reply.
That chat is so bad that even when grouped with my friend we shift + tab and use Steam chat rather than the in game chat.. and I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this.
Just commenting on not being revived 90% of time. I'm new to MMO's and mostly am revived all the time by complete strangers..IF they see me. The game is what 1 or 2 weeks released .. It already is a bloody awesome fun game to me. Perhaps I'm easily entertained. I'm sure the Dev's will get around to all our grievances and concerns. I'm in no major fizzle over the time it takes, I will be playing this game for quite awhile. P.S. I did casually see a chat message sent to me on bottom right of screen other day and didn't answer as was found late so if I don't answer, It's just because I'm lost in the game, not being "anti-social" or rude. Anyhow lets go kick the Shtako out of some baddies. :P
I'm still trying to figure out how you change channels, you press X, then what..?
I think Speech bubbles are needed alot. Zone chat is always nice to advertise guilds, parties and what not and for just general chatting.
Also the reviving things is annoying, there needs to be an alert telling you someone is down, especially in big raids.
))
If you call your game an mmo and dont understand that things like chat are crucial then you have a 100% fail mmo.
As it is now, its a singleplayer/coop game with pvp games. Defiance is far away from even the most basic asian mmos out there, that get it right.
As ive said in other threads...what were they thinking? Its not like its a hard thing to do, to add bubbles and a working chat.
I think this post sums up the state of this game better than any I've seen. And its these facts that are gonna push away a great deal of traditional MMOers. Trion has to realize that its the PC players that are gonna keep this game going or not. Once the next big shooter comes around the PS3/Xbox players are gonna be gone.
