You are really not informed about the development process of creating a MMO. The only major cost most of you are imagining is because the developers are using large teams and expensive sdk's to create something. In reality you can poop out MMO's under 100k easily. The only issue after that is upkeep of servers.

and server upkeep is EXPENSIVE for an MMO. And it is laughable if you think you can spit out one for 100k that can handle more than say 100 people unless you are paying programmers pennies.

Forgetting the licensing, equipment, software, initial upkeep cost.... You are still looking at probably around 500k of labour at the very least per year of development.

    Response to thread

Im really just wanting the game to play right. I played the beta and believe this game has a lot of potential. I also understand the frustration for those of us who are experiencing all of the current problems. I have been a gamer for 32 years and I am also an Xbox Ambassador. It has been my experience that these so called beta's are in fact, pretty much the finished preview of a game. A real beta would be released months in advance, giving programmers the time to fix bugs and glitches. 2-3 weeks of beta before a game launch is hardly enough time to fix much of anything. I love the concept of the game, but I also knew that with such a short and late beta test, that I would be experiencing problems. The question is not what I can get for free because if this rocky launch, but can the developers actually fix the problems currently plaguing the game....I hope so.

The game has problems, but they do not need to give us anything because of the problems. Just deal with them until they are fixed or wait. I'm in NA on Xbox 360 and at 944 EGO, finished all Main/Side missions, and just did a Co-Op and the other 3 people who were 500 - 750, so it is doable, just have to be able to put up with the BS for now.

    Not the first

Ok i get the whole new game thing and i have played many mmo but the server thing NO.You release a game have enough servers then if u dont need them at first fine. But when u release a new game u need to have it run not get CRITCAL that is not good. And the whole people should get something NO you should not know if this keeps going then yes they should do something but not this soon. And its not the first mmo on 360 FF11 is on there. But back to point in a new game u get lag u get glitchs u get stuff that really makes u mad but server congestion should nvr be it u should have enough servers just in case.It makes what could be a great game turn into a meh i dont want to play game.Look at ff14 They had to redo whole game cause they rushed it.Lost many people cause they just did not want to play with the way the game was.Now i get they wanted to put this out with the show coming but dont put something out just to do it then think ahh will fix it as we go.I know alot of mmo do that with patches but you should not with a new game.

Dont get me wrong game is sweet and well worth the wait. I just think that it was released maybe a little early. So with that said id like to see that my pre order xp bonus time to be reset when this is resolved and i think that everyone is intitled to that boost preorder or not. Second i think that 1000 bits should be given to all preorderd people and 500 to those who didnt. What does everyone else think?
Honestly, I agree completely. My friend lost some bits during a server crash. (I forgot how many, he was making the transaction when it crashed.) Myself, I lost a major portion of my XP and Scrip boost, so I would love a return on that. And I think the bits being given back would be a good way to attempt to get the some of the players who quit back.
