You know I really wouldn't mind having to pay a subscription if I actually got to play the game. I mean seriously. Since when do you buy a game and not be able to play it at all because of some server issue? I really wouldn't mind if they would at least be up front about it. You know say, "Sorry guys working on the servers will be up soon". Instead of we get, "oh yeah we are working on the servers they will be up within the hour" and an hour later they aren't up and no update. Thanks. Well guess who won't be buying any DLC. You got my 60 bucks but nothing else. Games like this are why buyback programs exist.

since pretty much every single game with an online element ever made, and almost 100% of mmo's ever made.

True but at least with games like WoW and Guild Wars you actually get dynamic updates on status so you aren't sitting around wondering if the game is actually playable or not. I mean if you say something is going to be done in an hour you probably should try to do that. If it's going to take longer set up a nice time frame so people know not to waste their time.
