For some reason, the mass cannons do not accumulate experience. I have this issue too. It's a bug (or at least I think it is). It's possible they just didn't get around to putting in the mass cannon category of weapons (that would be sad).
I have it With grenade launchers. Looted several different onces.... None Level up my skill. :-(
No problem With rocket launcher however.
So this seems some real inconsistency issues that are going on. Not good! :-(
I tested it with another rocket launcher, and it still didn't work. It was a 3 shot one. I seriously hope you don't have to use a very specific type of rocket just to level the weapon. More bugs.Originally Posted by Philote

I'm having the same issue with Rocket Launchers except that my rocket skill actually has part of a level, so I guess there was one I used at one time or another that did net me experience... I'll be damned if I know which one tho. ;P
I'm not sure if this helps, but I've found that if the number above the weapon name on the loadout screen is very low compared to your EGO level then you will not get skill up for it. I was using a sniper for a while that was level 20 and my bar stopped moving.
Just tried the FRC Sludge RL and it seems to be working!
Having same problems with the rocket launcher.
I have noticed the same issue for rocket launchers. I can not get any of them to level individually at all.
I see that they have announced the new DLC and what is in it along with a patch for fixes. But, the fixes weren't listed. Do we know if this is one that is planned to be addressed?
Noticed yesterday that the 'Bonfire' types, which are supposed to lay down a fire AE (much like the sludge ones lay down a bio AE) don't. Still got XP, however.
