This has been discussed so many times over the last 2 years. Purchasing lock boxes with real cash is akin to handing your money directly to Trion with little return.
As many times as we've asked them to tweak the pay boxes, it has always fallen on deaf ears. Remember, the forumites only make up , at best, 5% of the player base. The purchasers in that other 95% is what keeps the game afloat. Trion thrives on these whales and when the rest of us try them "just to see what would happen", they are laughing on the way to the bank.
As long as ppl purchase these boxes, they have no reason to change them. Whether we condone this or not, it's good business sense.
But if they did pay out well wouldn't it stand to reason that more people would buy boxes creating even more revenue and at the same time balancing our troubled in game economy by putting more of the super Rares that people are gouging 20+ mill for into players hands driving down the prices?
I see that point and agree to an extent, but a **** player with great guns is still a **** player.
It's gambling. The difference is that you do not win more money; you win a digital item or two. I paid for for key inventory, item inventory, a couple of outfits I am fond of, and what I have left will go towards a blade colour mod when and if I decide to buy a DLC.
That's why you don't spend bits on any item unless its 50% off. Otherwise your not getting your money's worth.
