Quick update: XBox should be up now, numbers look back to normal, although we are still doing our final verifications. Ill post with more details later today as well.

Everything I can tell right now shows this is a Live issue. I'm not 100% sure on that (which I mentioned earlier as well) and that's why I'm still up at midnight looking at it. If we did't care, we wouldn't be (and I know you all care about Defiance or you wouldn't be posting, so please don't take this as me being antagonistic; I'm not)

Certainly not the most pleasant of posts to make, but it's only fair to also follow up when the outcome was unfavorable for us .

As mentioned in the Defiance livestream today, this turned out to be a Trion problem and not a XBox Live issue.

Without getting into the boring technical details, the player facing error was identical to the error from ~ a week ago which was because of the XBox Live Service Alert. By amazing coincidence, that same XBox Live Service Alert was posted at the same time the error started happening yesterday.
That, along with other research we did, led us down the wrong path of what we thought was the root cause. As mentioned, the real culprit ended up being on our end.
We did some pretty stressful production rollbacks this morning to stop the issue from happening (the forums were down periodically as a partial side affect; it's painful to know one problem is solved but you can't use your primary means of communication to let players know!), and we will update our pre-release checks so we can catch this specific problem before it ever goes live in the future.

(To top it off, this all happened right as were doing the final Alcatraz Console Certification submission)

But enough excuses - the downtime was unacceptable and we will work hard to prevent it from happening again. We've enabled XP, Weapon Skill and Rep bonuses this weekend for all XBox players as a make-up. You can see more details here.

can you tell us how many people stayed in game? we had an xbox EU member who didnt log out from when trouble started, so was online for like 17 hours... in game, doing arkfalls? he even gained 8 million contribution points during that time, and opened like 7 elite lock boxes

i did the same thing left it on when i went to work.
made for an interesting,albeit lonely run.
i was the only guy on xbox360Na.

to the Devs:
its now randomly disconnecting me,even after restarting the system and Repatching twice now.
this trick used to work,but isnt anymore.
still needs some fine tuning.

When I spoke to xbox support and go to the link supplied by Phantasy I get a contradictory message. The problem is with Trion, which really is besides the point. Trion should have tested this before launching it if there were going to be problems with xbox. It could have been forseen and once again Trion has launched a patch that fails to work or do what it will say it will do.
