So, by a show of hands, how many of us wish that the chat button was better?
I find that when I play, the messages don't often come up in chat. I'm not bashing the game, because it's my new favorite. But, wouldn't it be better if the chat was always up?
It doesn't get in the way of the action, that's for sure. But it's also a problem because now nobody uses the chat system at all.
I could literally scroll back and the only person that used it in, like an hour, was me xD
It would be a lot better if the chat / voice system in general would work at all. So many bugs, mic quality comparably worse than 360/PS3 games and more. It's atrocious.
The lack of Freight Yard is even more so, however.... ;w;

I don't type on the chat unless I am 1. just finished and Arkfall or 2. trying to sell a weapon.
Other than that there is nothing to talk about. I can't shoot and type and when i try it ends up looking like jednfus, then when I look at what I wrote I find out I sent it to clan chat and there like WTF?
It took me a few hours to actually notice there was one.
Might be because I'm so used to mmo chat boxes being bottom left or it might be down the the speed at which the single line of text vanishes. I did find a bigger chat box but some genius thought it'd be a good idea to fill the screen and prevent any gameplay while it was open.
I knew there was one as one of the preview videos had a dev mention that the consolers could plug in a keyboard to chat if they wanted. But from what's ingame at the moment I can see why they didnt try and delve deeper into getting the person to use it.
Voice coms are fine but if you happen to be playing late night and dont want to wake anyone a decent chat system is a must.
Even more useful in the EU where a lot of the time all you hear over voice coms is a language thats not your own and you dont know well enough beyond asking for a cup of tea or the location of the nearest train/bus station.

It's not difficult - it shows up plenty obviously in your chat box, like every other game.

So you can write the foreign language but you cannot understand it orally?
There is no autotranslation, what would typing benefit you if you can't comprehend their language anyways?
Chat is not used, people are not teaming as a result, difficult missions will not be completed, and people will get frustrated and leave. Sounds like the perfect way of self destructing a game and it's non existent community.
What chat system?
I'm currently sitting in a Co-OP Mission, and there are no enemies for some reason.... also, I cannot chat with the people in my group. Whenever I try and type something to them, nothing pops up in the chat window..... I understand a buggy instance right after launch, but no chat? Seems like something that is completely necessary to have a viable online game.

People are teaming, every thirty seconds or less!
The reason they stopped recently is because the instances are broken and none of the open world missions require a full team.
What does text communication on a grand scale do to contribute to the success of this?
Make your case - shoot or get off the pot.
Did you turn off Voice in the options? This also disables the chat.
Turn it back on and you have a temporary work around until they do something about it.
