Not recommended. You need to worry about the temporary effects in the game that lower Fire's effectiveness, like Armor Plates and Shields. I use a Scourge to apply Bio to a massive amount of targets and a Flashbang to stun them (since targets set on Fire tend to run away) or remove the Shield penalty that I would normally encounter with a Fire weapon. This way, I have 3 Nano Effects at my disposal in 1 Loadout.

You also have the option of taking a Nano Effect that has no apparent weakness and making it stronger. If you're running with a Bio weapon, Shrill or Pyro will increase your DPS against targets.

To answer the OP, the best Grenade will vary from player to player depending on their Loadout. I have Bio, Flash, and Pyro equipped an equal amount of times between my 6 Loadouts.

I like using flashbangs against humanoid enemies, pyros against afflicted, bio against hellbugs and volge (including warmaster), and frags against trash. The others I don't find much use/room for.

The flashbangs are essential to me for crowd control. A grenade's biggest impact is in it's utility, and locking down an entire crowd of spawning enemies for seconds while your team regroups, spots them, and begins burning them down, is a huge asset.

Pyros are great for the damage bonus they confer if nothing else, if anyone isn't using fire against the afflicted, they suddenly are with a pyro grenade thrown in there.

Bio is great for melting plates, the importance of which can't be overstated enough. If a Viscera has 7 plates that means it's mitigating 70% of normal damage. But with a bio grenade those plates melt in seconds and suddenly all that damage mitigation disappears.

Frags are mostly just fun for blowing up crowds of really weak enemies.

There is no simple best grenade. each grenade has it's purpose and value that depends on when where and how YOU use it. Some are better for defense while others for offense.

Personally I only carry shrill, pyro, flash and frags. but tend to stick with pyro or frag depending on what the enemy is and what my weapon nano is.

TLDR: high armor: shrill. no armor, no shields: pyro. all others: frag.

flash/bio/pyro/shrill nades have the same effects as their nano weapon counterpart.

Frag: highest damage 'nade for small groups and single targets. overall best PVP nade

cluster: highest damage nade for LARGE groups. practically useless against small groups and single targets because the clusters spread out so far and each cluster has a very small radius.

Pyro: lights the targets on fire, causing damage over time, increases damage taken to HP (by 25%?) from all sources while on fire. Also benefits from the passive +50% damage to HP. I don't have the game on to look at then numbers right now but it MAY be the highest overall damage per nade against a target with no armor and no shields.

Flash bang: pitiful damage. Really only useful for it's stun and increasing damage to shields while shocked (+25%?).

Bio: medium damage. leaves bio on the ground for a long time, causing the targets to be slowed (% shown on grenade stats) and reduce their damage output (-25% in PVE, -50% in PVP). not useless in pvp at all. VERY useful for nerfing OP weapons in PVP, howeer you could also just carry a sludge RL.

Shrill: medium damage. leaves radiation on the ground for a moderate time, causes targets to be "irradiated," causing damage over time while standing in it and increases armor penetration from all sources by 25% (2.5 plates)

Pyros need a bit more bigger blast radius imo. Really not much use in PvE and pretty worthless in PvP.

Infectors can just be tossed around everywhere and they just go. When I see a lot of grenade refills on the ground I switch to them and just run around and throw them over my shoulder.

Shrill are pretty good. An Oj one's pool only lasts 8 seconds... should be 10 imo.

But Bios are over all imo the best. Oj ones have a 15 second duration. In PvP it neutralizes ground. And PvE slows enemies to a near stand still and helps annihilate armor plates.
You didn't mention Flashbangs.I love my Flashbangs to engage lots of enemies.
Defiance is gone. Gamigo has been "not neglecting" the game for over a year, yet there's nothing new except for low effort arkfalls and bitshop items.
I know it might be hard to quit a game you loved for years but you have to understand that it won't get better. Ever. If you like the game in it's current state, then sure, keep playing it. You're enjoying yourself after all. But if you aren't, don't hope for a better future for Defiance. Because it won't come.

I just have frags equipped. I rarely ever use grenades so I just stick with a general all purpose frag.

Why are there no Syphon Frags?

Clusters suit my style. I like to charge in and when I'm surrounded the Clusters come in handy. Large group of enemies close together.
