    New console releases...

So i know this is a ways out but has crossed my mind more than once. The new xbox releases in fall and PS4 early next year most likely (we should know more bout PS4 next week) might seem like a ways out but what happens to Defiance? Assuming the game is as good as what i've seen/played i'll still be around.

So i guess the best solution would be the client is availble on arcade/market for download, since the game will be linked to your Trion account you could just download it from there.

Just some food for thought being as i will most likely be getting the new consoles, though i never get rid of my old console right a away so i'll still be around most likely.

umm i continued playing FFXI on my PS2 for 3 years after PS3 came out.. a new console doesnt mean you throw the old one away immediately

Yup exactly what i said, was just voicing my curiosity on what Trion might do with the new consoles.

It would be nice if they do offer it as a digital download to play on the new consoles and the only reason I say that is just incase you have the bad luck of your old xbox/playstation packing up on you then at least you would be able to still play it on the newer consoles.

    Good question.
I hope DEFIANCE has enough meat on it, to keep me playing for a long while.
I'll most probably be jumping into the new consoles (prob Xbox) when they release later this year.

What would also be really nice: Digital download, and when the new consoles come out, a next-gen beefier version of DEFIANCE is made available for them. Simply better textures and 60 frames per second. You keep your same character and all that, but play in a world a good clip smoother & better-looking.
    That'd be sweet.
There were some graphical differences between the PC/Ps2/Xbox360 versions of Final Fantasy 11 Online, from what I remember.

As the others have said I highly doubt the new consoles would be much of a issue. There will be several big game releases for the current consoles by the end of the year so to just shut them out like that wouldn't be good either way. Many of the game companies have either started on the new gen games or still continuing on the ones that will be released on the current consoles.

And again there have been many games others have kept older consoles for so I highly doubt it would just die like that. I'd take your mind off of it or it will just drive you nuts. If you want to go nuts go code finding like everyone else

I go with many others in this thread, games coming later this year just boost current consoles sales. Its gonna take 2 year minimum next-gen consoles are as popular as current. I actually think that Valve's Steambox is more alot more attractive/inviting choice.

tbh we simply dont know. however given the nature of defiance, ie following a tv show it is clearly planning to go on for a few years, so im sure they have all this in mind and once they have an idea if this game will be success or not they will start planning for the new consoles straight away.
