This. All my installs were default, however I need to remap half my controls every time I log in.

Gamebreaker, and I'm tired of it. Us left-handers use the other half of the keyboard, I'm not about to remap every single time I want to play.

i have reset my keys over thirty times now. at this point ive gotten so used to my new hotkeys. even then if i tried to get used to the defaults, all the keys arent in a convenient location for me. its terrible. i have sent countless "bug" reports/messages in game and still havent heard any word of this being addressed. if they dont fix it in the next three weeks i will probably get a controller or just not play until its fixed. unfortunately i know two others who had refunded the game because of it. for me it isnt that bad but it is quite annoying.. BUMP: this issue, while seeming like a minor issue to some because only a small majority of us experience it, needs to be addressed and quick. how hard can this really be to fix anyways? they are HOTKEYS for the love of God. lol.

HI there, same issue, I wonder if there is a txt file which stores the keybinds that isnt being saved once remapped? IF so can some tech savvy person have a look to see if that's the case? If not I am sure Trion will get to it, currently they are trying to make sure everyone on all platforms can connect to play then 2nd priority is the lag issues for all platforms. I hope they will resolve this issue for PC users and then the outfits issue (all loadouts seem to change to loadout three outfit ).

If the install directory was moved, it might be that the OS isn't granting write permission to the file that stores the keybinds, so the game is unable to save the changes beyond the game session.

There seems to be a folder for keybinds in C:\Users\[your windows username]\AppData\Local\Defiance\live\keyconfigs. That's for me using Windows 7. I don't appear to have a text file containing keybind settings in there, but that might be because I haven't changed them.

Try right-clicking on the keyconfigs folder, choose properties and then look at the security tab. See what the permissions are there. If it looks like the system doesn't have permission to write to that folder, that might be your issue.

I can't tell you how to change the write permissions (or if you should) because I don't remember how to do it in Windows. However, if this seems to be the cause of the problem you can google for more info on granting write permissions to folders.

They are already aware of this problem. My solution was simply to use an xbox controller, if you don't want to do that, you'll just have to wait it out while they try to help people who have yet to even make it to the character creation screen.

I wish that was the case, but it is not. I have had my keys reset since January. I have had the game in both the app data directory (default) and in progams (x86). I have given Admin permission to every file game has. There is a keybind file if you dig around, but it is blank and nothing you can do. I bet I have changed my keybinds thousands of times. Simply put, there is nothing WE can do to fix this. We just have to wait until Trion can fix it. Your time is better spent just remapping every time for now instead of attempting to fix this.

On a side note, I did find it VERY odd that when I installed the live client and logged in for the very first time, the game had the same monitor size and refresh I used from the other builds. I expected it to be what my default monitor is set at, but it somehow knew what I had it set at before. I can't explain that. The live client either took info from the other build on my PC, or somehow our account names or setting are server side and it got it there.

Yup there is probably a dozen or more threads about this issue and not once have I seen a dev at least comment that they are working on it. I"m sure they must be but some sign would be nice
