    Why even have ammo in the game?

    It just seems... pointless. During missions you'll always find an abundance of ammo with enemy drops and crates placed within the mission area.

    Now ammo crates have been added to arkfalls as well. So what is the point? In PVP it makes plenty of sense to have limited ammo, but I don't see the need for it when you're not doing pvp.

    At this point it just makes things tedious with having to take 15-20 seconds out of an arkfall to run over to the ammo crate and refill.

    I'm sure someone will reply with an answer like "rocket spam" but people already do that near the ammo crates in the arkfalls, and explosive weapons in general need to be taken a look at because i know a lot of people dislike all the bunny hoppers with explosive weapons in the current pvp.

    I say increase the damage on rocket launchers by a large amount, but put it on a cooldown. Then get rid of ammo outside of PVP

    If you want infinite ammo, you can use a BMG. Some weapons are balanced by needing to hit the ammo buckets more often.

    In some ways I can appreciate this suggestion. The way I am envisioning it is you have magazines and such providing x shots before a reload but unlimited ammo. While I can definitely see the appeal of this, I personally disagree. The need for ammo creates an added level of strategy. For example, if you're getting low on ammo you need to start picking your shots better.

    As I stated, I recognize the appeal of this, but respectfully I disagree.

    Well thats the thing though, how often do you actually find yourself low on ammo now? Because I never found myself getting low on ammo outside of arkfalls. And it almost made sense not to have ammo crates in arkfalls to force you to pick your shots.

    In the alpha we would communicate with each other and say something like "there was an ammo crate 300 meters to the north" and we did just fine. It opened up communication. Now with added ammo crates in arkfalls it's pretty much the exact same as having infinite ammo. And the majority of the time you can just shoot while standing next to the ammo crate so the argument of balancing weapons because they need to refill on ammo more often doesn't hold up.

    The only exception is explosive weapons, but they need tweaking to begin with.

    I disagree completely. I love running out of ammo, and having to switch between weapons and loadouts. Adds tons of tension to combat.

    Thats just it though, you don't run out of ammo anymore unless you're completely oblivious to the ammo crates on your mini map. And if you do run out of ammo, just run 15 feet to the closest ammo box in a mission area or arkfall.

    The point i'm making is that the game pretty much already has infinite ammo. Why not just implement it that way? Or instead of having ammo crates at arkfalls that people can abuse, just make it so that the smaller mobs have a much higher chance of dropping ammo. That way you will still have to pick your shots and actually manage your ammo count, much like it was in alpha testing.

    I'm not saying that infinite ammo is the best solution, im just saying what is the point of ammo now with it being so readily available everywhere? If they want players to have access to an unlimited amount of ammo in mission and arkfall areas, why not just go all the way and remove it completely?

    Or if they want to focus on ammo management, get rid of the crates in arkfalls and increase the drop chance of ammo from smaller mobs.

    Because the way they have ammo set up right now is redundant.

    Ok, I get it. Ammo sucks. I support the infinite ammo supply idea but only because those ammo crates are SUCH A BETCH right now. With only one person being able to interact with an ammo crate at a time and having to hold the button through out the animation (which takes surprisingly long) and the fact that they are just generally glitchy overall right now for me (360) and that it usually takes me at least 3 attempts of running up and holding down X to actually start the animation.

    Fix the crates, have mobs drop more ammo in general, have better perks for ammo regen, have bigger capacity for ammo in general OR simply go unlimited.

    but yes, right now ammo is annoying

    Another issue i'd like to bring up with ammo crates is that if you have Blur active while using one it will prematurely end your ego power. This is more an issue with blur than it is with ammo, but it's something to take into consideration. Because if you just increase the drops from smaller mobs then you won't run into the issue of prematurely ending blur.

    Does getting ammo while decoy,overcharge, and cloak prematurely end the power? If so that's just another reason to take a look into this.

    At a major Arkfall last night, I focused myself entirely on the Monarchs and the Symbiote, with my LMG.

    I took great care to not waste bullets, picking my shots, aiming primarily at the weak spots. I never killed any of the smaller "trash" mobs, so I never got any ammo drops from them. I ran out of ammo 5+ times, at ~500 rounds per run. I even swapped over to my pistol and emptied it a couple of times.

    Without the ammo boxes at the major arkfall locations, I may as well just walk away. I probably could have depleted my entire ammo cache (LMG/SMG/AR, pistol, detonator, RLauncher, infector, etc) and still would have been nowhere near the end of the Arkfall, so "just change weapons" isn't a viable solution. Neither is "kill a couple trash mobs" because ammo as loot isn't a guaranteed, sometimes all it is, is just some scrip and maybe a keycode.

    With the scaling that occurs in this game, ammo boxes are a necessity.

    I think it's a balanced system, in that the person that's shooting wastefully, is running off to refill more often, doing less damage, and has a less likely chance of being rewarded at the end (this part is me assuming there is a weight system to the loot lottery)

    And even if there is no loot lottery weighting... I don't know about you guys/gals... but when I hit an Arkfall, my goal is to be in the top 5 every time. So ammo efficiency is paramount.

    But even with "perfect" ammo efficiency, you WILL run out of ammo, long before the Arkfall has reached its conclusion.
