i placed second in a major one last night and got sweet **** all, still have never gotten or even seen anyone get loot from a major arkfall.
it also said i revived 22 people, when i had not revived anyone
not sure how it works, but im guessing the loot & difficulty of the Arkfall scales to the players involved.
At a guess there's probably a challenge rating based on number of players and ego ratings.... if you're an ego 50 at a well populated arkfall with an average level of 300, its a lot more difficult for you than for an ego 500 player at the top of the list, and so you get rewarded accordingly...
Plus there's always "randomness" and "people boasting/talking rubbish" to consider
Ranking and loot are completely unrelated (otherwise you'll always see the same 3 "pro" players on each Arkfall getting the phat lewt and 100 others frustrated. It's all randomness.
I'm sure there is a measure of "weight" to how you place in the standings, but that's all it is.
I wonder if David Stern helped Trion work out the loot lottery system.....
I've done 3 since the Loot Table has increased..
1st Arkfall: Placed 1st, Purple Grenade, Blue Grenade
2nd Arkfall: Placed 2nd, Two Blue Shields
3rd Arkfall: Placed 1st, Purple Grenade, Purple Shield
This are the rewards I've gotten.. I'll try more later to day and see if I still get Purples every 1st place.
But the reason to try, is to have fun and enjoy the competition. I could careless about the Loot. I enjoy seeing my name at the top. Its an Ego thing.
The question is, what is your ego rating? People seem to forget that drops are relavent to ego rating, Arkfalls more than likely are as well. So you might be getting sweet stuff because of a higher ego rating.
What I hate is how you get 750xp for 20 minutes and 1st place in major arkfall and 4000xp for 30 seconds and single valley in minor.
(also two green items for 2nd place, purple Respak for 1 magazine discharged into boss)
