How is the lack of DLC's felt?

I just returned to Defiance and would like to try and see how much has changed. But considering there are 5 DLCs already out, I was wondering how much will I feel the lack of them. I know I will still be able to play the basic game, but what about all those new weapons, areas, quests and combat types/scenarios? Are they all locked for me? Are those things DLCs brought to the game, only available if you have said DLC?

You can still enter Arkbreaks like Warmaster but won't be able to call them down. And as for Arenas I think you may be able to join a friend if they are in an Arena but can't enter on your own accord. Pretty much everything else such as new weapons, quests and pursuits, the nano themed perks under the EGO Grid. Pretty much almost everything will be locked until you get their corresponding DLCs.

I remember playing the game back when I had no dlcs. Tbh, I didn't really need any dlc until I hit around 4k ego. After 4k the game would kinds suck without dlc, jmo.
