The ammo was only recently changed to this crazy system about 3 betas ago.

All the way until then, it was plentiful, ammo was NOT shared, and the only people who "complained" were the ones who want to turn this into some, e-peen play-off game and come up with snarky comments like "shoot em in da head", "I only need ONE bullet, EVAR, and I keel the world, so ammo is fine".

In most modern shooters and on back into some not so modern, ammo is not really limited, at all. In some you even have a resupply class that just pukes out ammo everywhere, for everyone, on the spot, including themselves.

Some people want to turn their game into work, ok, fine. You can do that without dragging those who were perfectly happy with limitless ammo along with you : Don't go pick any up!

Many people said that same thing in beta after the change : "what in the world were you thinking".

There will be more threads like this. It's a casual shooter not some kind of survival horror game where there are 10 bullets on the entire planet and you have to sell body parts to get more.

"they" probably didn't think anything about the ammo situation, because until the vocal few who begged to turn this into something its not, the ammo was plentiful for MANY months through alpha and all but the last 3 beta builds. That right there should tell you where "their" thoughts were, and what it took to have them change something that was not broken in the first place.

I don't have a problem with the ammo system at all. Outside of major boss encounters ammo isn't hard to find at all and having a shared ammo pool for all of the rapid-fire weapons encourages me to experiment with different loadouts.

Now if only they let us quickly switch loadouts...

It is weird seeing ammo and attachments beings used all the same under SMG AR and LMG but I deal with it. I love AR's but I got my first LMG and upgraded that with full mod slots and love it! I always keep my secondary as a shotgun for those tough close quarter times with the stupid mutants.

94 bullets of pure awesome rushing into an arkfall is all you need

I've posted this in other threads as well (including one I started).

    I agree with the OP.

If some ammo sharing absolutely must be done then:

Pistol/SMG should share ammo (and pistol ammo max should be bumped to 500 accordingly).
    Rifle/LMG should share.

The very definition of a submachine gun is:
A submachine gun (SMG) is an automatic carbine, designed to fire pistol cartridges. It combines the automatic fire of a machine gun with the cartridge of a pistol.

It is quite disappointing, but I'm sure this post will get mixed opinions. For me, i have a semi auto assault rifle and it is amazing. I wish i could use a sub machine gun as a backup but instead i have to use a shotgun. Or as AgentMytho said; a quick swap would be great. I find that pressing start to switch classes in battle is highly ridiculous.

Remarkable comment. Perfectly stated towards the minor issue this game faces. I have been playing the hell out of this game lately and I still do not understand why the ammo is not unlimited. I get having a clip for each gun, but why do we need an actual ammo count...It is stupid because there is ammo scattered everywhere yet we are forced to go over to a little box on the floor and get more. Like you said, this is a very basic console MMO, and it plays great. But it isn't a survival game and I find it amazing, that i got my first BMG weapon and i dont ever have to go to those stupid boxes while using it.

Real non-mall ninja optics are calibrated to a certain caliber, and the new trend in LMGs and rifles is that they now share furniture and even mag wells and muzzle breaks are based on caliber and can be modded to fit almost any barrel thickness so its not far fetched to assume they can all take the same mods.

The SMG is where the logic screws up though...

I understand where you are coming from discosoc however, I have just found a semi auto assault rifle and i love it. But it is rendered useless because i want to use a sub machine gun alongside it yet i am not able to. Sure i dont think ill ever run out of ammo during an arkfall situation, but some missions do get quite intense and i find there could be a better system like Pistol and SMG share and AR and LMG share. This would make much more sense, anyways, loving the game and see you guys on the battlefield.

Consider the ammo crate another 'tier' of reloading, or something. Your gun's magazine holds a few rounds, and reloads relatively fast. Your total ammo cache holds many more rounds, but is much more trouble to "reload" consequently. At both levels it's about economizing your ammo use, just on different scales.

As for the ammo types, I agree with SMG and pistol sharing ammo, while AR and LMG share theirs.

This isn't even taking into account the fact that my alien plasma rifle consumes the same bullets that my conventional SMG uses. Uhhhhh... how/why?

Also, not to mention the fact that you have weapons that trade off firepower for increased rate of fire, but do it while burning through the same ammo pool used by the weapons that have higher power but lower rate of fire. You can't carry any more rounds for a low-damage/high rof weapon than you do for a high-damage/low rof weapon. If it does 1/5 the damage and fires 5 times as fast, the dps is the same, but I run out of ammo at 1/5 the total damage.

This mechanic is just broken and needs to be fixed.
