Seeing as this game is subscription free, these are cheap. Pay $15 a month to play or pay $15 for an outfit. You choose, lol

There is a need for a new character if they added passive abilities or passive perks for being different races and those job things from the beginning. They are adding a new race sometime this year I heard, but I won't create a new character unless they update it with certain abilities and such.

When you consider, though, that $15/month in a subscription-based MMO (i.e. WoW or SWTOR) gets you dozens of outfits and vehicles (not to mention free major content updates), the cash shop really isn't all that cheap. The beta pricing was fine, IMO, but I can't see myself spending almost $9 on one outfit that doesn't even include the hat.

Considering swtor died shortly after launch, lost most of its pop, and then went free to play which is the ultimate 'this game failed' sign; I would have to say that is one heck of a poor comparison.

Anyways, outfits are to expensive...have to save bits for mandatory, MUST have loot and exp boosters...

This is the issue here. Prices in the store went up by as much as 500% at launch over the prices seen during the Beta. There's really no justification for the ridiculous gouging in many cases, because there aren't that many styles of gear available, it's all recolored versions of the same things.

Some of the boosts literally jumped up 5x their price in beta. Outfits range from 240 to 880, a 367% jump in price for a recolored version of the same item. Inventory slots used to be tiered, with discounts for purchasing 10 and 15 packs. Now there is no difference in cost over buying the 5 pack, and no incentive to purchase the larger pack over the smaller.

The store went from being a project managed by Trion Worlds to a typically greedy cash grab by an EA wannabe.

Do not purchase the loot booster until they've fixed the bug that breaks the loot table. At this point, they're a waste of money unless you like stockpiling white shields and grenades.

The laughable thing here is that you seem to think there is a choice at all in Defiance.

What? You don't get major updates for WoW for free, they are around £30.

I had no idea of the commitment one must make to the game. I don't feel like spending more money on it already.

I don't get it. I like it then I get tire of it. Then I think eh it might be cool. But I have no idea what to do. Information bubbles will pop up and disappear before I can even read them. I have no idea where to store stuff, and the upgrade for my assault refile that I bought... I can't find.

It might be a learning curve. Part of me just doesn't want to devote the mental real estate. Is it really worth it?.

Well, I reckon that depends on your definition of "major." We just got two whole new zones and a raid with, like, 20 bosses and a new tier of gear for free a few weeks ago. To me, that's major.
