Game is already installed, wants to install again (360)

My brother and I got Defiance yesterday for Xbox 360. He logged into his Gamertag, installed the game, and played for a bit. Today I went to play (under my own Gamertag) and it's prompting me to install the game again before I can play.

Is this a bug...? Why does the game have to install itself multiple times on the same Xbox?

That doesn't make sense as it's installing the same data both times; there is nothing specific to gamer profiles in the base game. No other game on Xbox does this.

yes... but this isn't like any other xbox game before it.... so.... >_> ya

final fantasy XI made you install on each gamer profile..... and since this game isn't like COD... or BF... and falls in the MMO side then ya, i have to assume.. my previous post is your problem

I'd agree with you. Doesn't make much sense that it would be done that way, but it seems that's how it was done regardless.

Strange. Is there any reason for that? Why would an MMO require multiple copies of the exact same thing installed to play on different console profiles? Why isn't it like that on PC?

Because on PC you make a completely new account for a person to log into but they both pull from the same section of the HDD, Xbox has it's HDD set up into subsections, the largest one being GamerProfile then going into sections such as "Saved Games", "System Settings" etc.

At least, this is my theory, I could be wrong.

Xbox does the same thing. I have all my games installed and all profiles draw from the same HDD data. Installed games/patches are saved under general storage and not Gamertag subsections.

This one may be different due to the fact that it's an MMO.
It may be installing the files under the Saved Games rather than patches or something similar.
I'd try searching my Xbox's HDD to confirm?

I'll definitely check once it's finished installing again. :B
