I did this last night with an AR and a BMG.

In the first phase when, after he does his blur dashes(3-5 in total or something), there is a very small window where you can lay into him. Just run/roll out of the way when he does that and rinse/repeat till you're done with phase one. I'd recommend just watching him after the dashes for a couple times to so you get used to him dashing, but also so you can get the timing for the window in which you can attack down(he'll kneel, but it's only for like 1-2 seconds). Make sure to use the BMG to heal yourself if you get hit. Also, a good trick when he fires the 3 larger projectiles at you is to strafe sideways for a step or two and then roll in that same direction, you'll avoid all the damage.

The second phase: He/his clones always spawn on the same side of the room(or maybe it's the opposing side of whatever side you're on), take them out as quickly as you can. You'll eventually hit him and deal some damage. When he goes up top to do that knife throwing attack, start shooting the clones to lessen the amount of projectiles. If you're lucky, you'll actually hit him and you'll cause him to abort that attack. Rinse/repeat until phase 3.

Phase 3 is the easiest IMO but also the one that is most likely to get you killed. When he goes into the core, look around and find where the floor is lightning up, don't stand there. Shoot the crystals to break them. Also, make sure you stand by one the pillars in the room. When he does his jump/slam move, stand on the opposite side to avoid the damage. After he lands start shooting him in the face until he teleports to you, then just go around to the other side of the pillar and do it again. Every so often he'll summon more crystals. Be warned btw, when he smashes the ground, whatever crystals are there will break/explode, so you could potentially take a lot of damage(it might be enough to kill you outright if you get hit with the slam+crystal).

    Good luck.

fight with Nim Shondu is the worst final battle ever....
it reminds me to old atari games - no tactic - just jump, roll, and shoot sometimes...

I used my LMG and BMG. First phase shoot while hes dancing around than just sprint in a circle while he does his super dash. Heal when needed. Phase two I played ring around the pillar and just out kited. phase three I stood on the oppoosite side of the room as him and fired and ran when he came over. And obviously kil his clones when hes up top. Once your past that first phase its cake

I have a Sniper and Saw. I run in circles and shoot him when he goes down on one knee. Still he kills me no matter what I do.
I had to abandon the mission and move on. it would be more fun with a friend. No fun dieing.

cfStatic covered the technique quite well, I managed it personally using and lmg and full auto shotty, but by the sounds of it BMG's are useful. As a piece of advice though, use a shield with a quick recharge delay, I started with one on 9 but this was too slow so moved to a much weaker one but with a delay of only 3, made it so much easier. Also, pillars are your friend Hope that helps.

It's one of the worst-designed boss fights I've played in years, and easily the worst fight in all of Defiance's story missions. You even fight him 3 times... it's like the game suddenly fell into the 90s.

With the clones, when you shoot the real Nim you get that feedback sound you get from critical hits/headshots. You get no feedback sounds with clones. If you hear it, focus on the Nim that makes that sound when you shoot him and don't bother shooting the clones. When you deal enough damage, the decoys disappear.

Demolished him my first time through.. I used the remote detonator gun for the whole thing. they stick on him and when you blow them all up( assuming you got the bad one that does 700 ) then you do nearly 3500 damage.. if you get them on his head you do nearly 7000 damage... You can even miss him and just stick them all on the ground... You can stick them around pillars or corners.. His movements are predictable.

Had the detonator and pistol equipped cause I was skilling them up, I could have easily switched to smg/shotty or lmg/sniper or rocket/bmg

This was a joke of a fight if you have actually lived through 90's video games...
