    Please make this cross platform!

In my opinion making this game cross platform will make the game last a lot longer since more people would be playing together and the less likely the servers will feel unpopulated....not to mention that friends that have a ps3 would want to play with PC friends etc. Sucks since I am hearing this is not Trions fault......hoping something like this can be and will be implemented in the future for the games sake.

    FFXI did it
    Shadowrun did it

    heres to hoping...

It really comes down to Microsoft and Sony. They are both tremendously stick up butt about it and jumping through the hoops is expensive and time consuming to get them to agree on such a thing.

Never speak of that game again :P

Seriously though, M$ and $ony will never agree to cross platform for their own games. The most we would likely get is PC+one console, and that would likely cause issues with the console that gets left out, or, 2 different PC servers, one with xbox, one with sony, but that'd make things a little weird for the pc players.

have any of those games truly been cross platform across all 3?

FFXI seems to be a special case cause MS was wanting a FF title and probably made concessions to get it (keep hearing how they're kind of tight about MMOs or have tightened up since then hence FFXIV not coming to the platform/Square saying they were still in talks when it was announced for PS3). Seems neither one has a problem with cross-play w/ PC if it can be managed by the dev but as far as PS3 and 360 players playing with each other, there is a roadblock there and not sure what it is specifically.

FFXI is probably the only one that fits, and that's a PS2 release (PS2, PC, 360) which you could qualify if you stretch it being on a Sony platform or if you have a BC PS3 that plays PS2 titles (20/60GBs). Otherwise, I think it's only been <insert console> + PC as far as cross-platform goes and those are few and far between.

thanks. I'd never played ffxi, but did consider it when it first launched.

the other issue, of course, is the player interaction. Most feel that the PC players would outperform the console players in PvP due to the mouse/keyboard factor, and would likely cause balance complaints.

It's not impossible. Sony did it with Dust and Eve. Just never gonna happen with M$.
