patcher.exe gone

So, logged out five minutes ago, relogged, patcher tried updating, update failed. Patcher.exe is GONE, like disappeared, not in my recycle bin, just plain gone.

Honestly this takes the cake, I'm getting pretty fed up with making excuses for such a ridiculously bad launch. I hope Trion can get their **** together because at this rate I would ask for a refund if possible from Steam and the company's reputation is going down the toilet.

If I have to go through the 20 hour download process again because of a ****ty launcher I'm going to be going postal...

EDIT: old file was renamed to patcher.old but doesn't have any error checking to rename it back if an update fails. Who gives a damn about redundancy checks and quality control in this day and age.

even if you haden find the old one, coud just redownload the fil from trion and put in your old install folder.

The point is not that I could've done this and could have done that... it got sorted yes, I was mad. The bottom line is that any patching process that makes changes to a file system needs to have a fail safe and redundency check so that while trying to update itself and something goes wrong you're not left having to redownload or rename files by hand.

Seriously take your blinkers off and expect better for what you pay for.

While I can understand about being upset about it. But you really did not have to go through all those hours to download the whole thing over. You could have downloaded the defiance setup EXE from trionworlds. Then just reinstall over the same place as you did be for.

I bought the digital deluxe edition of defiance and when it was done updating. I made a copy of the whole defiance folder and transfer it to a old 20GB ext drive. If any reasons I got to re-install I can just install the launcher (DefianceSetup.exe) like normal. Then I can just copy over the files from the ext drive & over-ride any files if it asks.

That way I don't have to download anything or least hardly anything at all. Depending how many updates there was since I made the backup of the folder.
