Ok so have they said that there will be Gear progression in any way?

I am not looking for a new wow with grinding for gear but it would be nice to have a reason other than skin to change my guns around In the first hour of playing the only changes I have made is adding a scope to my sniper.

It just feels like an mmo where the only time you log in is patch day to play the next few hours of content. Unless I am missing something. From all the trailers that I watched this game sold its self as kick *** and take names in a post armageddon world with huge enemy's and fast pace 3rd person combat. I have only forgotten the name of them but the bug one.

Rift the other mmo that this company made released with so much more content and did fairly well off it.

Through all this please dont get me wrong I have really enjoyed my time so far in Defiance and am still enjoying it. The only problem I see is that the life time of this game seems very short unless they can keep up with demand for content.

if you take all of the "kill X creature" from rift, you'd probably be left with the same length. the bulk of the time in an MMORPG is grinding levels.

Content will be updated aggressively according to the interview, new content around once a month, both free and paid, with a major update at the end of the season.

Maybe just me but its not rushing through the game without doing the side quests. Its the side quests that are deadly boring after you did 15 of em so ye, likely people will go with the main storyline.

Ok well I have high hopes for this game it is fun fast paced and the combat is very dynamic something we have been missing from most mmo's I just hope they have not dug them selves a hole with the fast paced content release as people on the internet have attention spans of goldfish and when they get bored they will just move on.

I just hope they add some reward for investing effort and time in to the game I know its all ment to be skill based but skins for guns will only be fun for so long. And using the same gun for 3 months wont keep people playing.

Thanks for all the responses was very informative

i just finished doing all the side quests and main story line and im at 664 ego. someone said that more missions will come out when the show launches or something? so that means we have to wait a week before more content comes out.

if we are going to have to wait every episode for new missions to come out this game is going to fail.

We are only in Season One, as the in game Goal sections shows. I'm not sure how many seasons of the show there will be, but I'm assuming we can expect much more content.

i think i finished the episode missions last night.

i wish i had done that last mission before i spent $10 and the remainder of my previous bit purchase on lockboxes hunting for an AR. oh well.

They won't add much to you EGO level. The quest line is rather short. Most of that EGO comes from pursuits.

In general, the story is rather short and side missions not really exiting (with some exceptions). I like to mix it up. Main mission, side missions, hotspots or races for pursuits, gear hunting, and contracts mostly. At 750+ EGO I am only done with Mt. Tam and Madera and still have to kill Nim.

i mix it up alot too. and my playstyle is pretty casual to boot.

with that last epi mission's ending i'll be surprised if there's another.
