at this point try closing the game and logging back in. If that doesn't work good luck lol.
Having the same problem 2 days later. Did you ever get yours working boombah3?
P.S. Exiting the game doesn't fix it, abandoning the quest and re-accepting doesn't fix it, and everyone else trying to do it right now is having the same problem. Kind of a game-ending glitch since you have to do the mission to continue the story.
Keep repeating it. This problem occurs if somebody else has done the quest recently. Just keep trying by logging in and out and doing the quest. Took one hour to finish the quest by doing this.

I've had a couple of side missions play up on me.
"Hell of a Day" messed up twice and both times I had to manually quit the mission and then log back in. 3rd time it worked (farmer spoke to me after I saved her.
Then "Cracking A Few Eggs" was not allowing me to crush the final pod. So I got into my car... drove away from the area, drove back and it worked.
So far a few hiccups but for a game this size, certainly nothing game breaking.

Had a similar issue with a main story quest later in the game. You can queue up in support chat, and when a GM gets around to you they can manually progress your character past the story mission. Though if as you say it is happening to a lot of people. You might just want to do some side quests for the time being, and wait for a game patch to correct the problem.
