Not really, people do that with a multitude of alts on other mmo:s

trust me i know.. and i think those ppl should be slapped lol... it would be different if i accomplished EVERYTHING there was to accomplish in said mmo and it was down to log in everyday and do absolutely nothing or start over on another character and do it all over again THEN maybe.

Bu heck I played FFXI for 8 years accomplished a LOT and even in that time span (which according to my playtime my account was 8 years old and my log in time totaled 4 years.. so half my time was spent playing that lol) i still never seen and did EVERYTHING it had to offer.. point being a GOOD mmo is gonna give you so much to do that youd have plenty of work to do (and probably never finish) on ONE character so making a second would just be trivial.

The only ppl i know with alts in MMOs only use them to stalk others/troll, or use them is pack mules.. they only play seriously with one character.

Now fits some crap like DCUO were you can literally hit max level in 8 hours then sure lol

Definitely on the PC. Glad to see support for multiple platforms by Trion though, although I hope it doesn't mean degraded visual potential for PC users with higher end machines.

lol i w i thf in FFXI i know all about wiating for parties i remember sitting in my mog house one for 15 hours waiting for a party... then i learned this "magical secret" called making my you own parties... instead of waoting for a party I made the parties come to me.. you shoulda done that

But speaking of which FFXIV hits PC and PS3 this Summer (the FFXIV that actually doenst suck unlike the last one) and its a lot more "casual friendly" and will be cross platform.. you should give it a shot.. I know I will be.. so lets hope Defiance does a good job in keeping me entertained because I already have back u plans/exist strategies in place if it doesnt deliever lol
