General Concept of weapon Mastering

I can answer and give some insight -

Weapons levels/mastery give you small bonuses that will add up over time. Less recoil, better aim, more ammo etc - small things that just add up over time.

Erik, do these small bonuses have a cap on any individual weapon? Or do they carry over to a new weapon that is the same type? These are questions i plan on asking during the Twitch.TV Friday Extravaganza but if your here maybe you can shed some light.

There are level restrictions on weapons, 2 weeks ago(the week they were having issues with the alpha servers) the guy who is always streaming, I don't know his name, couldn't use any of his gear because it was at the 1000 ego rating and he was a mere 50

It's there so you can't give a new character a godly gun to blow through a good chunk of the start game or be a twink (in WoW terms)

thats the power level system, as you go up in power levels you gain access to new content. new areas, new weapons etc. dont think of it like a progression (im level 50 so more powerful), more expansion in what you have access to. this is all in the live streams.

Your power level tells you what weapons you can use. But we still dont know if individual weapons have a level cap.

I want to give my example I saw in BETA but it would break NDA i would think :-(

So here are my questions with regards to weapon proficiency and leveling of weapons.

Q: Can a weapon level up endlessly? Or does it have a maximum ammount of times it can level before it caps?
Q: Does XP from a weapon carry over to a newer version of that weapon? Example; I start off with the AR from the training grounds, level it up 3 times, then find a replacement AR. Does the XP from my 1st AR carry over to the newer AR?
Q: Do the proficiency's carry over? Similar to my question above. Does the leveling or mastering of a weapon type carry over to a weapon of that same type? Example; So i earned some AR proficiency with gun A. Does gun B. which is also an AR get the same benefits?

I know questions 2 and 3 seem very much the same but one asks if the benefits follow the gun or stay with the gun while the other asks if the benefits follow you the character vs. the gun.

In hindsight they may even be the same question so i apologize in advance lol.

im not entirly sure whats been touched upon by the devs, i have a feeling these were but im going to err on the side of caution.
