    Bug Smash... again

    I will also keep insisting on the issue below, from my last Q&A. You answered just about the rarity of orange drops, but that was not what I asked:

    "Since content (in my opinion) has been addressed, I think it's fair to say that the second main concern of the forums has not changed, it has only became the #1 concern: bugs.

    And I mean, lots of bugs. We reached a point in Defiance where even the smallest bugs are starting to bring us over the edge, because we have been subjected to them for so long, but so long, that we are now feeling like we are second-rate customers that take whatever it's given to us as a favor. Ironically, *I* haven´t reached this point, but you don't need to be a psychologist to read the mood of the forums. And this worries me a lot, because to me, the close contact the Defiance community has with you, the Defiance Team, is what makes this game so special. We have been heard before. You guys gave us that. We are now used to it.

    But you haven't dropped a single word about all the complaints about the Midsummer Mutiny's lack or irrelevance of drops. And this kind of disconnection between the Team and the Community worries me, because it seemed like a deliberate decision. I mean, it was impossible to oversee the dozens of threads and messages about this issue. We saw you addressing the Infector mods issues among them, which made the unawareness of the drops issue even more impossible to admit.

    This post is becoming quite large, so I'll summarize it. What I would like to see addressed in this Q&A is:

    1) Please, come forward about the lack of drops on the world map, during the MMs;

    2) Please, come forward as to why every event there's an undesirable drop that keeps repeating itself. As it is now, It looks like an strategy to devaluate the drops;

    3) Please, acknowledge that the "Bug Smash Month" idea is a cry from the community and it's only a suggestion to "gather round" an objective. I'm NOT saying Defiance Team does not work on bugs, YOU DO, you have been proving that to us. I'm not saying you're lacking about it. I'm just saying that the bugs are piling up, and before moving on to new content, that I feel has been properly addressed by now, we could do an alignment between the community and the Defiance Team, in an effort that would reward everybody: Trion would get a pulse of what really annoys people, fix it, pleasing everybody in the forums, and that would prevent new players from experiencing them, which is great.

    It breaks my heart to see Markeen (and others) complain for the umpteenth time about trophies not unlocking on the PS3. It's a small thing? No, because it should never have happened in the first place, and when people complain about these kind of situations, they need to be addressed, no matter how small they are.

    To see people repeatedly cry about the same bugs over and over again is grating. Of course there are things that are critical, but I think we would need a different kind of "Hellbug Hunt" from you, now. Come on, Defiance Team, think of it as an expedition: negotiate with corporate a special allotted time in your future, devoted ONLY to smash bugs, and nothing more. Before that, make a poll to establish the list and priorities of the bugs the community would like to see addressed first, so we can engage and take responsibility in the schedule, as well.

    I really love this game and the interaction between the community and the team. Be assured these ideas are geared towards preserving them.

    Can you at least take consideration in the time, thought and effort everybody puts in long messages like this, and think about it? That would be enough. Thanks.

    Arkhunter, if you are reading this, and if you agree with these words, it's also your responsibility to convince Trion a "bugs first" stance is key to our quality of life. In the classic words of Starship Troopers: THE ONLY GOOD BUG IS A DEAD BUG!"

    I assure you good Sir, that it is not super fast. I cannot even imagine (nor do I want to torture myself in such a way) what you console players endure.

    Your second post in this thread is so well written I really do want to quote the entire thing, but I won't.

    Can you give a logical explaination as to why new content, particularly bitstore content seems to continue getting majority of Dev time while known issues/bugs that have been around for years persist with apparently little effort directed at fixing them?

    New chrome wheels and a spiffy new paintjob on my car is all cool but if the engine doesn't run right and the transmission keeps slipping gears those wheels and paintjob don't really mean much.

    Fix Defiances engine and transmission, then offer us cool new things to do/buy in game please.

    Has the Defiance team considered forming a "Player Council" similar to what Lord of the Rings Online is doing? Essentially, taking players who are active in the community, active in-game, and participate in different areas of the game so that there's healthy representation, and working with them to figure out the direction of future updates. Informing them of the limitations, the metrics (which parts of the game are seeing the most activity), and collectively determining how to progress from there.

    Since it was implemented, Turbine have done a fantastic job focusing on what can be realistically added and fixed based on what the council gathered from the community as well as their own opinions. It's done a lot to bolster the player base.

    To expand upon that with my own personal thoughts: When I see stuff like the "Supreme" weapons on PTS as well as how it's tied into (a lot of) arkforge, and then I look at the player reaction (overwhelmingly negative so far), I have to wonder why it's still being pushed. A lot of the recent updates feel like the team is constantly trying to square a bunch of circles instead of focusing on what most players are clamoring for. With a game with a smaller playerbase than something like SWTOR, surely you'll keep/accumulate more players by fixing what new and veteran players are being hampered by, instead of making another very blatant funnel for arkforge purchases. Since Expeditions were announced, I haven't seen a major update that hasn't mainly led back to the Bit Store, which has been very disappointing after the promises that were made during the F2P transition.

    Sorry for rambling, but I feel like something like the "Player's Council" could help both sides figure out what can realistically be done to improve Defiance given the limitations in place, possibly even ways to monetize it in ways that are more in line with Trion World's F2P philosophy. In my opinion, both Expeditions and supreme weapons fall drastically outside that purview if the excellent models for RIFT and Trove are taken into account.

    While I think having the thread up for the weekend is a great idea as it allows people who may not have time during the week to get a (hopefully) non-working day to get questions up; as we don't know what questions were pulled from the last thread it will be a little difficult to not repeat questions which may already be answered.

    Regardless, here's my contribution:

    1. Is there any possibility of removing framerate from limiting firing rate. I even accept that it isn't possible for reasons I don't understand as I know little to nothing about coding.

    2. As Destromathe has confirmed supreme weapons are in the future; will current jackpots be upgraded to supreme? There is a disconnect from wanting players to "feel special" for getting a jackpot and then making that jackpot inferior almost immediately by including a higher tier which will necessarily be better. It wouldn't be worth it if they aren't better than legendary but a jackpot is only special because it's better than the other weapons available.

    3. Forgot to include this one the last couple of weeks but burst fire weapons. Any plans to make them viable? Specifically I'm talking about disruptor class weapons being far weaker than any other LMG, but this also includes any weapon which has a burst fire as the natural firing type and is not a typhoon or shotgun.

    4. Inventory management. It's slow and annoying. Manual organization or some sort of paging or tabbing system would be great.

    can we see a return or damage based scores please?

    even if it is just restricted to warmaster or incursions/sieges.

    the current score system is very flawed and does not drive me at all gain extra score in any events.

    I feel honored by your remark, fine gentleman, and stand corrected. This begs the urgency of the question for all of our kingdoms.

    Which only humbles me and enlightens your decision. I shall drink a sip of our finest mead in your favor, your grace.

    While I may be jumping to conclusions too fast on this one, it does sound to me like an awesome idea. Thanks for bringing that up.

    the option in the controls setting is " disable double tap to roll" feature that was added awhile back.

    this option always defaults to "on" upon logging in.
    i'm quite over having to go into settings everytime i log in
