As a kid i pondered this very question. But i had a very 8yr old limited knowledge of how things work. Not saying i do now but just sitting in my backyard staring up into the night sky i then realize the truth......

All the messed up things we have done to each other i could list a thousand, and still not come close to it. Past, present, and future its a miracle we have,nt killed each other yet. I sometimes wonder whats the point of life,if its just to die.

That there is no spoon? That there is a truth but we cannot ever know it but only make assumptions? That we are not alone in the universe? That we are just a link in the universe-equivalent to our own ecology? That we don't matter as much as we think we do in the grand scheme of things any more than a gnat or microbe matters to us? That the truth is no one really knows anything beyond mere speculation as to what's out there and the origins of life and the universe itself? That mankind cannot comprehend how we came to be or how the universe was created so we resulted to mythology to explain it (whether we call that mythology science or religion it doesn't matter but at least science has pretty much one version whereas religion has too many versions/gods to count)? That even if we do find out someday we still won't matter in the grand scheme of things? That humans may actually be a virus designed to breakdown and weaken a planet similar to a flu?

The truth is we don't and won't ever know how or why we are or how big (or small) we are in the big picture. A scene at the end of one of the Men in Black movies shows our universe as one of many universes that "huge" aliens use to play a game of marbles. Wouldn't it be funny if we were actually comparatively as small or smaller than atoms in a whole slew of universes? Or if electrons protons and neutrons were universes themselves--each with their own galaxies and solar systems planets and "humanities" sitting around pondering the same thing on their own Internet forums?

I bet its like, when you get stuck in a video game, and d,nt know what to do,then finally figuring it out,and im like wtf that was what you had to do. I think thats similiar to any question i could ask about what, where, and why. But that power you could have if only you knew. Maybe somethings will never be know. We live are lives going from one distraction to the next.

In the end it does,nt matter anyway really. As long as you find what makes you happy thats all that matters. That is all anybody can do, find a small piece of a sanity from this chaos called life.

And this is the 1 argument i always tell someone who tells me im going to hell for not believing in god. I say " isnt being a good person enough?" " if god is real, i shouldnt have to go to church every day to let him know i love him, he knows. Right?"

Yes in the end, to me at least, it doesnt really matter. Ive lived the way i wanted, i grab and hold onto that which makes my crazy life sane and nothing else matters.

And really all life is is keeping ourselves alive, not getting eaten by an animal, not getting hit by a car or shot by some piece of **** crackhead who needs a fix.

And raising our children to hopefully do better than we did with our lives and not end up as crackheads with guns--or worse.

yes. I struggle with this every day. I can teach my son right n wrong, good n bad etc. But ultimately its up to him the way he wants to go. I personallu grew up w a Pos father but he did teach me certain things that pervade my every day actions. My choice was to be a good person, honest and helpful as i can be. I have many examples in my life of terrible kids coming from seemingly great families and great kids coming from gang infested jail bird families.
