How do you take Screenshots in Defiance?

it's a console centric handicap against pc users to appease console players who are forced to screenshot the game with their phones.

unfortunately for the legions of console kids who feel hard done by by our superior screenshots, we have superior technology which allows us to bypass such nerfs and allow us to take proper screens without our phones.


anyways i think the demo of fraps should solve yalls issues for free.

Honestly this is one of the things i discovered about Steam when i was playing Bioshock Infinite recently was that they increased your capacity for uploading and sharing images on your community profile. I just hit my F12 key and snap away when something catches my eye and select the images to upload once i power down the game. Images do store locally on your PC so you don't really have to share and upload if you do not want to.

For those that did not purchase thru steam you should still be able to Add a game to your list and it will allow you to use the steamworks overlay and possibly taking screenshots while in game along with chat and so on. If you have not tried that as a solution i would highly suggest giving it a shot.

For those that want screenshot capability that is easy but have hatred for services like steam all i can say is sorry you feel that way and i cannot please everyone so no point in complaining about steam.

I guess as there isn't an inbuilt system then another way is simply to alt+print screen to actually take a shot of your whole screen and then paste into paint. This is really quite long winded though.

Thanks guys for the ideas, guess I have to play my game in window mode from now on. You know when something wonderful/hilarious/spectacular is happening on screen, you just don't have the time to ESC and go through UI options and change into window mode then take the screenshot. But still, how hard is it to build in screenshot option in the game? Really!

Well, if you have it on Steam, just press F12 or whatever it was the key you assigned for screenshots.

It would be nice if the print screen button worked while defiance was open. I know the button is actually working, and windows knows im giving the command, because I have two monitors, and when i use print screen and paste into paint, all of the first section where my first monitor is, the screen is totally black, but where my second screen starts, everything is fine.

Just add it too the wish list...

Thanks for the replay. It is pretty lame for a $60 PC game that doesn't even have screenshot function build in. Hopefully they will improve on that in the next patch if they can fit it in with all the bug fixes.

No disagreement here, its not even a big deal but IMO we should be able to take screenshots without 3th party software.
Personally I use gamebooster for it.

If you are running Windows 7 try changing from 'Aero Theme' to a basic theme. I seen a posting where it will allow you use 'print screen' and then use paint. That way you won't get the normal black screen that people been seeing.

I can't comment if that works since I use Steams F12 to take screenshots.
