Update: Upgrading Epic Tier Items to Supreme

Not making anything up at all, flat out says only 1 tier upgrade can be performed

this was talked about AFTER supremes were announced... Rashere (who is in charge of the team behind wpn developement) said when EVERYONE started asking about purples (because no one wanted 2 lose a great wpn if it was upgraded from purple) that they might implement a feature 2 upgrade epics to supremes (because he understood us as gamers).... No one anywhere said it was written in stone that it was going 2 b a permanent thing wat kiwi said... plus no where in her post did she say it was going 2 stay that way so no... no one did wat u r saying

Also I AM NOT saying this is a bad thing , if you at the original post I made, I said it was a good thing.

What I AM saying is what about the 500 af ea weapon that a lot of people flushed because we were told flat out only 1 tier upgrade and its locked

So you took an upcoming feature announcement as 100% set in stone forever (NOT the same as a "no" answer to a specific question), didn't read the other dev post explaining the long term plan, and dumped all your good redlocked OJs into a vendor (instead of, like, you know, maybe giving them to a clanmate?!) simply because you couldn't supreme them?

This is what was said by Rashere the same day as Kiwi posted to announce supremes, but about an hour later

Since we aren't upgrading difficulty, your existing weapons will do exactly as well the day/week/month after supremes launch as they did before.

I get the perception that your guns are now weaker because something better is available. Grass is greener, my neighbor's got a bigger pool, whatever. Perception does matter. The only way that starts to become reality, though, is once supremes become commonplace like legendaries are now. When that happens, you'll basically need one to be competitive in a group of people that have them. What's the best way to make that happen right now? Allow too many weapons to upgrade to them. Basically, exactly what folks are asking us to do in order to "prevent their existing weapons from becoming trash". It would be a self fulfilling prophecy.

As long as supremes are kept rare and special, something where people are proud to have one, there's no validity to even the perception that existing weapons are somehow being nerfed. Yes, supremes will become more commonplace over time since weapons never leave the game. As that happens, we may need to reevaluate. We also may find that the number of supremes entering the game at launch is sufficiently low enough that we can allow those old epics to also upgrade but we won't know that for sure until after we launch and see what the uptake is like.

Also not their fault that you do not keep up to date with changes being made to the game.

It's really nice to see people standing up for Rashere on this one.

I have said this before and I will say that again: Team Defiance may commit mistakes from time to time. Some of them really hurt us. But I still believe they're composed of honest people, passionate gamers and good guys all around.

I can't imagine the plethora of legal and commercial issues these guys risk their necks for, while talking openly to us on an almost daily basis. Sometimes, they need to stop and think about what they're gonna say. This last debate over "what was said" is a perfect example of that. Think about this if you find strange when they don't answer to a certain topic, almost as if they were ignoring it. They might just be thinking about how not to jump the gun. Public relations is not an easy art.

And that's why their relationship with the community is the #1 reason I stand around for Defiance.

I would assume so. From what I understand, WM weapons not being supremeable is a separate technical issue entirely and that Rashere intends for that to be fixed down the road.
