Will someone take a moment and explain how to mod a freaking weapon?

I love this game..I really do but I am about to pull my hair out trying to mods weapons.

I sure hope they make the whole process a bit more user friendly.

Freygea, While this is not explained to well in game. To mod a weapon took me probably 20-30 mins to figure out.

When picking up a weapon it has a chance to have "mod slots" aka ones that look like they are already filled.

Lets take this for example you find a sweet Rifle and you notice one of the squares is filled with a shoulder stock icon. That icon means hey i can add a shoulder stock for this gun. You will not be able to add a scope or mag or any other mod cept the Stock. Im not 100% sure if you can add a mod slot later but im sure we will be able to. But in order to add a mod to a weapon you have to make sure the Slot is open and free to use. The small squares at bottom of item indicate which can have a mod added, If its a square with that "mod icon ( stock , Barrel , Scope, Mag etc..) then you can add that mod of that type.

    Steps
1). Make sure compatible weapon with a open mod slot ( check the little squares)
2). Open the matrix and access the Salvage tab / Mod tab
3). Once weapon in place add the mod ( make sure it has the little square with one of the mod icons it can accept)
4). Add the mod you want lets say stock ( when you get on the stock another menu opens up with all the stocks for that gun)
5). Accept that mod you have in the new menu, Bottom of menu you will be able to click Add mod or Start mod proccess
    6). Congrats its modded!!

    Hello Freygea,

Modding is the process of adding different options to weapons. In order to mod a weapon you need two things. First is a weapon with an available mod slot opened. On the inventory picture of the weapon you will see greyish blue boxes under the item level of the weapon.

There are for mod slots they are:

    Butt
    Barrel
    Magazine
    Scope

When you find weapons they can have any number of these slots open. They may also have no mod slots. The second thing you need is a mod itself, you can get these as quest rewards or from vendors. Once you have both items you goto your salvage matrix select the weapon, choose the option to add a mod, then select the socket and finally the mod.

Additionally you can add a random mod slot to an existing weapon, you do this by first unequipping the weapon from all loadouts, goto the salvage matrix and select the option add a mod slot. There is a cost to adding extra slots so it might not be worth it at low levels.

You need mods for a weapon goto the Iron demon ranch for basic mods.

    Hope that helps.

I made a tutorial video, 19 minutes in length but it covers all that you need to know to mod weapons. Hopefully it helps you out. I cover everything from knowing if you can mod the weapon, to actually taking a bare assault rifle and adding all mod slots and all four mod types to it.

This is the biggy. I figured out modding quite quickly, but it took me a while to realise why I couldn't mod some items.

IIRC you can't do various modifications if they're equipped in any loadout - and the UI doesn't tell you, it just doesn't show the modding actions, making it appear that the item may be unmoddable.

It'd help if the UI said 'Modification unavailable whilst the item is used in a loadout'.

You can "Attach Mods" to equipped weapons. But last time I tried, you could not Add Mod Slots, Remove Mods, or Retrieve Mods if it were equipped.
