North Korea is baffling. But if it comes to conflict, I doubt will last long. Using the initial attack on Iraq as an example, Air Supremacy will stop most hostilities pretty fast.
As many South Koreans are saying... they are not worried about it and are continuing on with their lives. -)

Just "lil kim" desperately flexing his military peen to make up for lacking size in other areas. And he's got those generals that keep lying to him saying that "yes, Its big, its very big"

All talk and no action, Lil Kim wants to reopen a nuclear reactor to annoy other countries to give him a concession for not doing it... even though that was the deal in the first place xD South Koreans are more worried about going to Psy's music concert.
There is a very real chance of a war. He has to sabler rattle in order to show his military, people and the rest of the world that he is in control and to try to get a better deal release on the embargos that North Korea are facing or now in place.
Now we get to the dangerous parts. North Korea has a long history of saber rattling, fireing into South Korea, sending small groups of troops across the DMZ into the south, sinking a South Korean ship, and the capture of an US naval ship.
North Korea has around 1.5 million active troops under arms with most near the DMZ and around 8 million in reserve. For info on their planes and ships I would suggest going to the libary and reading Jane's ships/planes, also you can check on-line like state department, CIA reports on North Korea. Along with news reports that they are moving rockets towards the DMZ and hidding them.
Plus news reports that China is very upset over what is going on in North Korea. Now anyone guess are the troops to step on North Korea if they need to or cross the boarder to support North Korean troops like they did during the 50's Korean war.
Last I heard in the news we had some 150, 000 troops on the ground in South Korea with a carrier group and extra anti-missle ships have been ordered into the area.
What could cause things heat up to combat. North Korea fires a long range missle from the east coast, depending on what direction it is sent we might shot it down. Fireing across the boarder or at ships, blowing up the dam just a couple of miles from the DMZ to flood the south. LastSouth Korea has said that they will take strong action if they do. Last item that would result in instant all out nuclar attack is if North Korea sets off a nuclar wepon aimed at South Korea or a US site.
Now if the triger does go off, we would have to restart the draft, buy the eqipment for them and get them over there. This could take some time depending how long it takes to get them in the service and trained.
One option that we would have to think very hard about and may have to use when it comes down to the nut. That is using nukes on North Korea to block the movement across the DMZ, their miltary bases/airfields and along the North Korea/China boarder if China moves troops into the North in support of North Korea.
That is the best that I can explain what is going on and the options that we have.
From what I can tell, we're worried about Nkorea because it would most likely be a catalyst for something much worse. They could be the next franz ferdinand.
First off, a majority of the increased US troop presence in South Korea is because of joint training exercises that were planned long before this **** broke out.
Second off, the only way North Korea starts firing off artillery or missiles is if a rogue general does it.
The reason for number two is quite simple. History. History and the fact that it is Kim Jon-un in charge. Here are a few reasons they aren't going to do anything
1. North Korea whole-heartily believes South Korea and its citizens are theirs. They don't actually want to kill South Koreans or even ruin the infrastructure... just take it over eventually.
2. If North Korea attacked somewhere it would be an attempt on Japan or the US even though it doesn't have the technology to hit what it is aiming at. Japan's freakouts over NK's previous launches had nothing to do with them worried NK was trying to attack them but rather they were worried it would hit them by accident.
3. EVERY year NK starts being like this because they need food after they exhaust their resources from the previous growing season.
4. Kim Jong-un is being a bit more vocal/visual than usual because he is young and doesn't have the respect of the Generals yet like his father and grandfather.
5. Related to number 4, Kim Jong-un is smart. A lot of people here probably don't realize that because of his goofy looks and internet memes, but he is very intelligent. He knows damn well they couldn't do anything to Japan, the US, and even South Korea.
6. and this is the biggie... This is how a young non-military scholar gets the respect of his generals. A little sword rattling goes a long way.
Basically the world is going to give them a bunch of food and they are going to eventually shut up again. It is going to be a rogue general or a missile / "satellite" test gone wrong that cause "war" with them.
War my Comrades, Never Changes... Draft? no. high schools are overpopulated with cod fanboys wishing to be a try hard IRL. we will make an example out of them. they will eat **** and die. our b2 bombers can drop the wrath of ktulu on them from missouri. could get hit with there long range nuke. but who cares about guam anyways.
