Old friends, Old swords.... bugged?

My quest was fixed within half an hour of me contacting the live chat

I was able to complete the mission.

What I did: Start the mission, go to the first waypoint. I joined a competitive match (I completed the entire match). Then when I respawned back into the game after the match I was able to see the ranchers at the first waypoint and complete as normal. Then I ran into the ranch and completed all the objectives and the mission completed.

NOTE: No other players showed up or was around for the entire duration of my attempt, not sure if that is what is bugging it as others have said.

I'm still stuck on this mission and ready to stop playing because I can't even progress in the story until they fix it. I've tried it more than 10 times now, submitted tickets, and still haven't got a reply yet.

I've been trying to get past this bug since around 8pm est it's now 3am.

Happy to report (as suggested by other people who had been in this predicament), I logged in at 8am and there weren't any other people around, the ranchers were there and I managed to do the quest. It seems to me that if someone has already started the quest and released the three initial hostages they won't be there if you're out of range to 'share' the quest objective.

So until it's fixed, unless you skip it as per the person above, I'd suggest waiting for some obscure time when there's less people about to try it.

This is still an issue,

the farmers are present, they are just a little south of the indicator.... however they keep resetting.

My friends and I spent our night last night trying to finish this mission. We never saw ranchers at all, just Raiders and a Hulker that we killed. We went through several respawns of Raiders, went and did a co-op map, came back and still no ranchers. We then spent an hour running around the ranch killing everything (and found a data pad in the barn).

For the most part, I'm pretty patient with bugs like that having to be ironed out. I don't mind running around doing other stuff, and there's plenty to do. However, some of the episode stuff requires being in San Francisco. If we're unable to move forward in the mission thread, and therefor unable to get the mission to go to SF, and can't complete the episode content, and then it's taken down before we can reach it....then I will be a bit irritated. Hopefully this kind of thing is taken into account and the content remains up long enough to allow those of us roadblocked in the thread to complete it.

This worked for me. Other people even arrived during the end stage and it still completed.

Was bugged last night, tried it 4-5 times no luck, tried again this morning at 7ish gmt and had no issues all the phases worked mission completed.
Perhaps its an issue when the servers are busy? no work today supposed to be working on the house, nah shoot stuff instead alot more fun!
