Critical Problem
Does every weapon have the same base critical hit chance? If so, does anyone know what it is?
Do shots at "critical locations" always inflict critical damage? (IE headshots)
I've noticed the crit multipliers and crit-based shielding located around the cloaking ability, but I'm really beginning to wonder how I can take advantage of this without using a sniper rifle.
Since I've already made this topic, I might as well ask a few more questions regarding gameplay mechanics.
1) Why have I been knocked out of cloak before? Is it from receiving a certain percentage of your shield in damage?
2) It states that by using the cloak ability, it immediately begins recharging your shield- this would favor a high recharge time/high recharge rate shield like the tachyon. However, the execution perk replenishes 15(?)% of your shield per critical kill, favoring a high base shield strength like rhino. From personal experience, which shield do you infiltrators out there recommend?
3) Does starting class largely affect your character toward the end of the game with access to synergy mods?
4) Similar to my previous question about the shield, I've been having difficulty deciding between the hit-and-run tactic while using a sawed-off shotgun versus attempting quick kills coupled with the utility of a SMG. Which weapon style do you other infiltrators prefer?
5) Is there a website that compiles game data, such as weapons and builds? Somewhere I could have went to, to find the answers to these questions myself.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

There is no critical chance on any weapon. Hitting an enemies weak point will give you a critical hit 100% of the time. There are different crit multipliers for different weapons(and different kinds of sub weapons). Check out your weapons stats to find out what that number is.
1) Shooting or taking damage will reveal part of your body to enemies. They will shoot you if they see you. Also, you're never fully invisible to anyone. So in PVP if you get close enough to someone, they can make out the shimmer/shape of you, much in the same way that you see yourself when cloaked.
2) I'd say it depends on which perks you pick up. Having a maxed Cloak with Shadows Core and Pumped Up will yield a cooldown on cloak of about 20~30(shadows core + max cloak = 31 second base cooldown) seconds depending on what weapon you have and your play style. I use Rhino because it provides the best strength, and has a decent recharge rate. Remember that it's whatever the rate is per second. Your mileage may vary depending on PvE / PvP.
3) No. The only difference between origins is the outfit and the weapon that you start with. The synergy mods can be obtained from faction vendors. You unlock contracts to get faction currency/notoriety at 250 EGO.
4) IMHO if you're going to be using a sawed off, going for quick kills is probably your best bet, especially if you plan on utilizing cloak.
5) http://defiance-central.com/ is probably the best right now aside from these forums.

Thank you for the advice/information, and I'll definitely be sure to check out that website.

There's no such thing as critical chance. Hits to critical locations always inflict critical damage(note: shotguns are a bit unreliable for this in my experience, the random spread of the pellets often mean some of them won't hit the critical location).
1. Not sure on this one. It seems as though if you get hit right after you cloak, your cloak gets interrupted and doesn't work.
2. I use low recharge delay shields, though I suspect I'll eventually change to a high recharge percentage shield instead once I get the cloak recharge down alot. If you move in and out of cover alot, the low recharge shields combined with the perk that reduces damage for 3 seconds after your shield breaks are pretty good(as the shield recharges before the reduced damage perk duration expires).
3. Not sure how this works. I suspect the answer is no.
4. I always have a sniper equipped. Usually I run a smg in the other slot, but I use a burstfire shotgun sometimes too. Mostly I try to keep mid-long range and move in and out of cover, picking guys off.
5. Not sure, I'd be interested in this myself.

Thanks for the info, but I'd also like to point out that if you're shield begins recharging while the damage reduction buff is still active, then you took no damage and thus the damage reduction was useless.
That perk/shield combination still sounds extremely nice though, but not for the reason you suggested.
