will defiance last?

These are just some thoughts i had and would like other people's opinions.

i was thinking the other day would defiance last?, as of its released in april and since its a mmo it should last a while with the constant updates any mmo has but with the new consoles coming out and defiance probaly not going to be compatible with them i think most people would switch over to them leaving a good majority of the defiance players p.c.ers but with all the other mmo's thats availible wouldnt a good majority of people who bought defiance be on them after a few months had past.

Im still getting it despite my thoughts on this (as playing the alpha and beta made any doubts at the time go poof) as i really enjoy it but are anyone having any of the same thoughts? (btw im unsure if i spelt thoughts right so sorry if it causes confusion)

We dont know yet, I think there should be longevity, but we dont know becaues of NDA. Nevertheless Im gonna play this and watch the show weekly, casually if I have to.

Factions are probably somekind of grind.
Instanced PVE and PVP.
Open world PVE and PVP.
Story is minimum 30 hour I think.

I tell you one thing. I wouldn't want to be the guy predicting this stuff for Trion.

Most games I would right of great, good fun etc but wont last because there's always something new around the corner. I to am in alpha/beta and have to say having a blast. But wether other games would tempt me away. I don't know. (atm nothing in the calander is) i am bored of all the usual fps like bf and cod.

However, this game has got one thing definatly going for it, a tv show. Which works on 2 levels, 1 the obvious tie ins each season, of player coming back to play the next installment. And 2 if the show takes off, i can guarantee finacially the game will remain strong because it will hold alot of interest for alot of businesses. Now more money = more content = more players sticking around.

So personally I would give this game high hopes, bit ita fate is tied with the tv show.

Well it depends on weather or not the new gen of consoles are backwards compatible. I also see the show helping the game to. Should help with the addition of new content. It also depends on the price of the expansions and how frequent they are. Lots of factors and I think trion and syfy have taken a huge leap into the unknown. I also believe they went about it the right way with joking teams from the very beginning. Wonder who contacted who first.

I truly hope that they succeed. I want another show that I can invest i n like I did with battle star and sg1.

Gonna be interesting to see if they touch on weapons that shoot electric bullets or ones that heal the shooter or if they will have shields in the show

Another thing that needs to be considered is replay ability. Unfortunately I am going to compare this game with wow because its probably the most stable long term memo yet. And because I have spent to much time playing it and is my best comparative.
What's left to do after you get to such a high lvl that the gear upgrades are few and ? In wow after your toon is all maxed out and your crew doesn't really need any new gear you have two options
1 farm for more gold or supplies to sell for gold
2 start a new toon of a diff race , class , and\or faction. Also gives you a chance to get 2 different professions. That's were replay comes in big
I have a friend who has 40 something toons across a few servers. Don't ask me why lol

Now I havent been privledged enough to get into one of the beta or alpha yet... But from the interview and other view I have seen this is what I surmise

The multible character on the same server is kinda unneccary. After your first selection and if you don't like what deals your using you can just switch out and go a diff spec. If you don't like your perks you can respec from a stealth sniper to a heavy healer. Which is cool and I really like the idea of not having to grind to get another toon to lvl cap to get to play with friends who don't want to make new tunes.

With the TV show and the cross over they say is probably going to happen most eppisodes , there should bee enough constant new material to keep people engauged.

I hope it lasts, I'm wishing this game save me from all the Panda nonsense on WoW so far, but hey I think Blizzard are aware as they're launching an incoming big patch soon (couple of weeks or so).. I assume they are trying to keep their players busy so they don't jump into other games (guess why?)...
I'm a shameless WoW victim for the past 4 years or so, trying new mmos now and then (SWTOR, DC Online) but always going back.
I'm tired now and seeking for something better (action,blood, guts and guns..pls) and I hope this is it.
I have my hopes high for what I seem so far ^^.

Roadkill, yea i forgot to touch upon replayability. whilst thats one thing, i would point out in one live stream they mentioned theres around 5,000 levels of various things to earn, power ego etc. Since one guy in the live stream took "many hours" to even get to around 300, they even said there not expecting many players to max out.

plus this number will increase constantly with each new content released.

so for me (im a character horder) its going to be interesting to see if they do as they plan and keep people interested rather then replaying old stuff but by adding new stuff. and ofc there business model to this.

LOL yes defiance will last.. SYFY paid for this game and the TV show for around 300 million+. so the game probably has 10s of millions. If the show fails then thats where the game is on it's own. The game then has the roll of leading the shows content. If that fails Then No more money from SYFY investors.. This game will end up free to play on the SYFY Channel so that is a plus. Then there is all the star-gate fans looking to join in.. solve puzzles and more.. I hope they are thinking of star-gate fans unlike SYFY witch don't put ads up for this game when star-gate is on.... The ECO codes are working out well.. I hope code finding in the game is one major aspect.. I see hints of halo one here and there.... I see hints of Call of duty.. I see hints of boarder lands and I see hint of star gate destiny. all good things to come guys.. This game needs a lot of Xbox achievements..
