BMG - is it worth it? PVP mainly

So im running around with the BMG, solo, PvP and PvE groups trying to heal.

Ive specced into take less damage while shields are recharging, take less damage standing still, take less damage, take less damage from behind.

So if im getting shot from behind while rclicking to recharge my shield and standing still

    -15% -15% -9% -30% = -69% less damage? Still die in about 1 second with a 1700 shield.

Whats the point in this gun is my question? It does no damage at all aswell..

Anyone had any luck with it at all? The only thing that i see is i manage to keep my team mate alive or myself long enough for him to shoot (hopefully) the person with the 1 extra shot of time it gives us if we are lucky..

I was going to make a thread to discuss this a bit, but I'll just piggyback on yours. I too have to question if this gun is particularly useful at the moment. It's a unique weapon and it's fun/looks neat, but it does negligible damage unless there's lots of small low hp critters running about, and the damage portion essentially becomes worthless during missions where enemies are being strengthened from the number of people in the area as it goes from doing weak damage to no damage.

So, granting that the damage portion of it is extremely situational, what about the healing?

The healing portion of it is nice, but as far as I can tell, healing does not count as contribution in any fashion. It isn't tracked in arkfalls (so you look like you just sat around doing nothing with 0 kills and 0 dmg on the board) and it doesn't seem to grant any experience towards using the weapon, meaning the only way to improve it is to do damage with it, which it doesn't do every well to begin with.

I really, REALLY want to like the BMG, but it's damage functionality and healing contribution need to be looked at before it's something that most people I think are going to want to bother with.

Yep couldnt agree more. Having no meters for shield healing means you look like you do nothing.

Healing in arkfalls is pretty pointless since most people just rez and run back anyway quickly..

Rezzing someone at distance with it would be cool - using a medic perk.

Like you i want to use it seeing as its one of the unique guns going (and i dont mind using a underdog gun) but at the moment it doesnt do anything worth using it for.

Try killing anything other than a small bug (even using the 400 damage a second one) and you will die if there is multiples attacking you, or you will get bored and switch to your damage gun.

I just think at the moment it does a bad job at both roles, rather than the okay at both it was meant to be?

Healing shields is useful whether it is on a meter or not, don't be ridiculous. Go with a heavy survival build and just heal people to your hearts content. Damage shouldn't really be your primary concern with this gun.

Lots of things in this game are broken, for instance when your fighting and your shield goes down in 2 shots from a mob.... you pump 2 clips in them and barely break their hp lol Same for 99ers with shield takes a few shots to drop their shield but your goes down almost instantly!

Why is it usefull? How much does it cost for you to respawn? It isnt that usefull because how many people do you see healing?

I dont want damage with it, i want to do healing. If you see my top post my survival build has like 69% less damage, but i die in 1 second in pvp anyway?

The reflective shield talent is another moan i want to have. what is it 3 seconds for 15% back? with a 5sec c/d.. Its impossible to keep your shields full using the bmg.

I think you misunderstood him. He's not saying it's useless since it doesn't have a meter to show, it's useless because the healing to the shield is so tiny that people drop in 2-3 shots even while being healed.

I doubt using the BMG will activate the "while in shield regen" abilities, as your shield is not naturally regening but instead being filled from an external source.

You are not supposed to be outhealing people or keeping your shields full.

I found the bmg to be incredibly useful in instances. Primarily in the soleptor instance where you need to kill 15 rats. Find a group of them and chain away. Pesky little bastards.

You get the speed run buff from using the bmg even if your shields were already full.. so i run at 45% quicker.
