It's well worth it including all the DLC. Learn now, everything matters in here even at the very beginning, and the weaponry and Mods for those weapons should be cared for like they were ur babies. Because if you sell or breakdown a weapon/mod/shield. u will never get it back. Also, the green salvage currency is easy to come by so instead of breaking down your useless inventory items. sell them for the script currency at the vendors so you can buy good mods and such. Note: i know ppl that started over because they screwed up at the very start of the game. Myself included.
When you start getting ARKFORGE, the most valuable currency, don't pis it away on upgrading a crappy weapon, save it for changing the epic(purple) weapons to Legendary(orange) once you get to about level(EGO) 5000. till then use EPIC weapons and mod them out to become really good, and just deal with being a little weaker than some of the other ppl. Keep in mind some ppl spend a lot of real money to play this game, maybe a few hundred bucks USD.

Damn, does breaking down green and white weapons I'm not into affect me that much later on? I've been breaking down the white gear just to save myself from the clutter.

I mean white and green gear is ok to breakdown. Pick and choose whats the best for you. Green mods and white mods can be used to strenghten ur weapons as you go along until you find blue mods and guns. In the beginning the enemy seems to be tough to kill and the mods for the weapons u use can help to slay them quicker. Try to get the synergy on the mods to match the weapon. I seem to always swap out MODS when i find a better one, or retrieve my mods when i find a better weapon. At one point you may consider adding inventory slots to store more stuff.
Shields are important too.
IE i have a green rhino shield that i got from the beginning of the game, i think episode 3. and i been upgrading that all the way to 4900 EGO, it has a capacity of 26000 and will out last most peoples orange shield. I got use to waiting 9 seconds for it to recharge, but i use EGO PERKS to make that time go quicker. i got an identical shield at ego 4500 and it's capacity was 5000 less than my current one. IDK why.
