    Neglecting missions!

    Hey fellow Arkhunters!

I just wondered if - like me - anyone else has been neglecting the main/side missions in Defiance? I'm Ego level 278, so not that much, but I've spent most of the time exploring, in Shadow Wars and in Co-op. Whoever though that each would be a game in itself!

I know there are many who will have already breezed through the single player and side missions and be onto their second play-through (unless there are tons of missions, then I retract that) but I honestly love wandering around taking in the scenery haha.

Does anyone know roughly how many missions there are?

    Happy Ark hunting!

Waaah, the story is done in 22 hours. Waaah! Lack of content, I feel like we got screwed over! Sentiments like these I never understood with Defiance. I play ungodly amounts of hours per day. I did blaze through the first two areas, Mount Tam and Madera, or so I thought, because it took like two or three days to do but there are people beating the game in 22 hours flat.

The sheer amount of Arkfalls and Encounters I've done have left me feeling giddy. Tie into that the Shadow wars, co-op missions, and the numerous side quests and I can't see how anyone could have touched all the content in 22 hours. The challenges are tough and if you're aiming for gold on each that'll suck up time.

So, I do agree. I feel like if you're just blazing through missions it'll be a short and disappointing game, but if you play like you and I have been then the game seems large and the world seems teeming with interesting things around the corner. From hunting down the recorders to squashing Hellbugs, Defiance's quality seems to come down to how much time you put into seeing the world.

(I'm at ego level 514. You don't need to plow through all of the missions as quickly as possible to level up your ego!)

I did the first couple of main missions, and cleared most of the little side missions. But now I'll probably just wander around and do instances and ark falls for a couple hundred EGO levels and spread out the main missions for when I get bored. I don't want to plow through everything all at once. I'd like to enjoy this game for as long as I can.

Although, you may want to do the first main missions like I did, just so you can complete the episode missions. I can't remember if the episode missions pop up after finishing the Accord Medical mission, or if it pops up after KTAM. Either way, the episode missions need to be completed before April 15. I mean, if you're keeping up with the tv series at all.

Thanks Opus, I did wonder if the episode missions disappeared as new episodes of the TV show aired. I'm in England so we don't get the show until the 16th of April here but now I'll make sure at the very least to get the episode missions done.

It's good to see people embracing the game for it really is, rather than hammering it, finishing the main story and then leaving it. At least you will carry on playing the game Raehyvn, fair play to you! Being 22 hours does seem a little short alas. Mind you there's 5 DLC packs/expansions planned for this year alone so that should be awesome.

Yeah Snaloe, you can't really beat just doing your own thing on a game like this can you hehe! I've only unlocked one Co-op map so far but I've done it loads of times and have a different experience each time, it's crazy!

Thanks for the replies guys, got some great community spirit amongst the Defiance players!

    Happy Ark hunting!

Yeah, I'd go ahead and get those out of the way.

And I'm not really a gamer, so it's been nice to just kick back and do my own thing. I figure I'll probably do 1-2 main missions a week, and just have fun exploring and meeting other people. Also, grouping up with friends is a blast and makes things interesting, even when you've done them 100 times before.

Finished all of main and episode missions, now working on side and co-op.
I totally wrote the first Defiance filk:

Also, I used to recruit for the Anarcho-Syndicalist Revolutionary Union <ASRU Ark Hunters> (on 360 NA), but no one was interested, and I don't know if I'll ever bother playing again.

Play the game how you want, but I'd "suggest" doing at least the story missions as well as the episode missions.

You don't NEED to do the side missions, but the story missions will get you into SF.

I been playing every chance I get and my Ego is at 600, but Im still in the third zone. I been taking my time doing all the side missions first then main story quest. But in between main missions Im doing co-ops and pursuits and rep runs. I been trying to get all the awesome gear from the challenges also. So the game has been taking quite some time for me

Am I the only one who finds these missions boring? Seriously they're so repetitive, it's mainly going up to something and holding X lol.
