Is there a way for these weapons to have their older names back (Fury, Desperado, etc.)? Or perhaps I should ask, would the developers be willing to do so?
Apologies as I do realize this has been discussed in previous threads (at least insofar as Fury is concerned).

They do have their old names. Fury etc were their new rolled replacements.

Not when you get it from the purp arm box. They got the generic names, same gun/rolls but with new name.

the only guns that should have the new names are the guns that were purchased in the bit store. i believe there is a bug with some of them reverting. if you had a Fury, for example, and it got changed to Assault Rifle during the Mk I/Mk II removal from supremes, then it should be fixed. All the ones pulled during Armistice, WHICH SHOULD NOT BE IN THE BOX, need to be left as the generic name.

Assault Rifle, Thunder, Bolter, and CS-x Clustershot are the original versions under the old roll system.
Fury, Steel Cyclone, End of Days, and Desperado are the names under the new roll system.
