It has absolutely nothing with the actual act of gaining of XP. It is about the bonus stat you get on the weapon for having it maxed out.

    Make sense?
For the last bloody time, that bonus stat is irrelevant to the point I was making.
The only point to a weapon reset that people actually want is so they don't have to trash their favorite weapons once they max it out. Hence my "kind of redundant" comment in the first place. Before the troll decided to get condescending. I will say it again, that bonus stat gained from when you max out the exp on the weapons is IRRELEVANT to the point I was making. If you don't understand what I am saying by this point, then you're hopeless.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

No, that is the exact point of the thread. And you are condescending, and you truthfully are one of the most mean spirited people I have encountered on these forums.

edit: the op was talking about having his skill maxed already and it is a feature that is supposed to unlock once you do master a weapon on your character. Therefore he is talking about the ability to reroll on the weapons level up stat.

You are STILL not getting it. Simmer down, stop raging for 5 minutes, and actually look at what was said throughout the thread.

You said that resetting your weapon was redundant, period. That was before the discussion even got into WHY they want to reset it. You flat out said that resetting is redundant. THEN the discussion got into why people would want to reset it. You are still latching onto the XP thing when, as we have said several times now, is NOT why we want to reset the wapon. You are insisting that wanting to keep gaining weapon skill XP is why we want to reset the weapon. We have clearly said that no it is not why. It is for the stat only. Everyone but you seems to understand the fact that we are very well aware that because our skill is already maxed, resetting the weapon to gain more XP is pointless. Youre the only one that doesnt seem to get that the point of the reset is to attempt to get a new bonus stat. Not gaining XP.

I really dont see why this is so difficult to grasp.

The bonus stat may be irreleveant to your point, but youre completely missing the fact that the entire purpose of the conversation in the 1st place, and the entire purpose of resetting the weapon when your skill level is already 20 (like the OP said his is) is that bonus stat and nothing else.

Incorrect. You can get a variety of random bonuses to a gun when it reaches max. Sometimes those bonuses will not actually be helpful... for instance "firing rate" on a sawed-off shotgun.

So there are TWO reasons why you would want to reset a weapon: 1) to keep gaining weapon skill with it, and 2) to try for a better random bonus on the gun when you max it a 2nd time. Two reasons!

EDIT: Here's an example from some stuff I have in my inventory. My "VBI Invader" got the random bonus of "+20% grenade refresh on a full reload", which is awesome! I don't think I would reset this weapon to level... even if I could!

However, my EMC XAR-22 received the random bonus "0.80 Recoil". It already has a low recoil, so that is fairly useless to me. I would totally reset this gun, EVEN if I was already at Assault Rifle 20, just to see if I could get a better bonus when I maxed it a second time.
