Honestly, I tried them out and have several nice FRC Assault Carbines. So far I have tried the following in PVP, Bio 2x DMG PS Carbine, Raven, Bio SS Carbine, Elec Frontier Carbine and Rad Frontier Carbine (both the auto versions). But the biggest issue is when you compare the accuracy of the Carbine to a VOT Pulser or VOT Tachmag Pulser especially the accuracy on the move it just can't compete with the Pulser/TMP from < 20 m. Over 20m without the Carbine Scoped the bloom is too high and a lot of the bullets miss your opponent. This is where the 3 pellet spread of Blast Rifle helps because it helps that some of the pellets will hit the target. If you are scoped and over 20 m from target in most cases you are better offer trying to snipe for a head shot with a SASR like a FRC Quick Repeater or Ranger or variant.
Back to topic at hand.
Favorite SMG depends on who I am going against and what their weaknesses are.
1. Obliterator (recently traded for, and rerolled some rolls, currently still investigating practicality)
2. Sweet Nothings
3. Elec FoP TMP
4. Bio 2x DMG PS TMP
5. Fire ST TMP
6. Reckoning M1 (soon to be Sup'ed and rerolled)
As far as VBI ARs: Gravedigger and Proliferator seem to work well.

My rig bumps it to 5585 damage, which does the trick. Got a lotta kills with it.
Just picked up a Sweet though... have to try that out....
I only use one gun in pvp dc 11 piper mk 1
I'm surprised "my favorite smg is until death" wasn't posted lol.
I havnt tested this, but i speculate you will still have a falloff loss with your smg with falloff, vs an ar with dmg or crit barrel.
Youre also giving up 9-11% dmg or 20-25% crit just to get alittle bit of fall off that the AR come with standard.
So id be assuming that the vbi smg would have to have minimum 30% more damage than the AR for it to be viable at all, and even then i would trade that extra 5% dps for the extra falloff provided but the AR.
AR's are also alot more accurate too.
