Basically the best part of the synergy is mediocre and you have to have 2 of the 3 equipped to even benefit from it. Without a patron pass the 1% ammo regen generates 2.5 bullets every 10 seconds or 15 bullets per minute on the pistol and it generates 0.4 nodes every 10 seconds or 2.4 nodes per minute on the det. My point is there are much better weapons that have better ammo regen (Hollow Point & Prepared) that are fairly easy to get.

For me the bottom line is that the while the guns and shield are interesting it doesn't justify the extremely high level of grinding it will take to get them do to the apparent low drop rate percentage and the fact that they have to be upgraded to OJ to make them useful. If the guns were OJ to begin with then I might be able to justify it even with the mediocre synergy. Some people may feel differently because it all depends on where they define their point of diminishing returns.

Very few people have gotten these weapons, which is majority of the reason why this thread exists. Not sure why this is funny to you. R1p's assessment of the syn is pretty on point, but as an owner of purgatory, the sheer damage output can make it worth it, though I have no interest in lighting up the syn.

@r1p, if you are the type of player who get's annoyed by large and bright explosion animations (comparable with a mc/bh), then purgatory isn't for you. I can show you what I mean the next time I see ya. I find myself only being able to stand using it for short spurts... Which is a shame because on paper and practice it's a really strong gun...just wear a pair of sunglasses when you use one.

He never said they were worthless, just not worth grinding for.

I don't know what platform you are on, but on PS3 they are still very rare, and I know many who have been grinding these af's a lot with nothing to show for it.

I never said that they were worthless so you should work on your reading comprehension skills. What I did say is that in my opinion the combination of the amount of effort trying to obtain them, the mediocre synergy, and the fact that you have to use ~$20 worth of AF to upgrade them exceeded the point of diminishing returns. Also, I don't know if they will become common place or not because about 80% of the time I finish these things solo and less than 10% of the time do I ever see more than one other person. I know it is purely anecdotal but I do play quite a bit during prime time hours and weekends so my impression is that they aren't exactly being swarmed like event ark falls.

The pistol sounds like it could be useful in WM and the det with expeditions and afflicted sieges but there are plenty of weapons out there that meet those needs. Also the 1% ammo regen bonus is pretty weak compared to Hallow Point & Prepared and it is almost useless on a det. And while I really like Respark shields this one has an almost worthless bonus that requires you to have both of the other weapons equipped to even activate it.

So if you throw out the synergy you are left with 3 hard to get epic novelties that require 500 AF to being any real use. If they are going to make something hard to get then they need to make it worth the effort. If the rewards are going to be epic items then they should be worth upgrading to legendary. If they are meant to be nothing more then novelties then the drop rate should be better. If they are novelties that doesn't mean that they should be super easy to get but after 300+ ark falls you should see at least one drop. Most reasonable people will accept grinding for stuff and they will accept paying for stuff but they won't accept both unless the reward is really worth it because it's like having a job and paying for the privilege to do it.
